Anyone know of any bars, etc. that are showing the Tonys in Toronto? I went to the party at The West Bank Cafe last year and it was a blast. I find myself in Toronto for this year's show, and I'd love to try and repeat last year's fun, so if anyone knows of a viewing party in the Toronto area, let me know!

Posted: 6/3/09 at 9:26amI agree, I think you are out of luck. There is no live feed either. You can see the pre-show red carpet stuff on line, but that's it.

Posted: 6/3/09 at 11:36amAgreed, I'm sure you'll be able to watch it on basic cable. Worst comes to worst, the internet will always have it somewhere.

Posted: 6/3/09 at 12:00pmNone of thw Canadian stations have carried it in the past 10 years, but we can see it from the Buffalo CBS station and if you have cable with a U.S. time shifting package you can see it again from the Seattle station starting at 11 PM.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

That's more what I was asking, really. Is there anywhere that a group of people can get together and watch it? It might really just be an NYC thing, but I was hoping.
It doesn't really sound like there is anything like that here. Too bad.

Your post made me think that I *had* read about a Tony-viewing party at a bar in Toronto. I googled it and I was right. Alas, it took place in 2007.

When you watch the Tony Awards each year, do you always feel like breaking into song? And are your friends and neighbours getting pretty sick of it?
Have no fear. This year, you've got an exciting new option.
Independent producer Michael Rubinoff is hosting a Toronto Tony Awards party tomorrow night at Monarch's Pub in the Delta Chelsea Hotel, 33 Gerrard St. W.
Not only will the celebration of Broadway's finest be shown live on a widescreen TV, but here's the best part: before the show starts and during every one of the commercials, you'll get a chance to strut your own musical comedy stuff by singing along with the pianist who will be waiting in readiness. But just make sure you bring along your own music.

Posted: 6/4/09 at 12:13amIt's amusing that so many people think that Toronto is so remote from the U.S. that they wouldn't get any U.S. tv stations.
