#0Tony Awards & short runs - a question

I am showing my Broadway ignorance with this question, but here goes.

Now that "Lestat" has announced closing on 5-28, giving them a total of 39 performances, I was wondering if any other shows have had similarly short runs and been nominated for Tony Awards?

The only show that springs to mind when I say "short run" is "Anyone Can Whistle" and they received a nomination for choreography only (which I don't understand - I love this score!)

Any thoughts?

Mack and Mabel ran for only 66 performances as was nominated for 8 Tony Awards.

In Peter Filichia's column today he mentions the musical A Joyful Noise which ran for only 12 performances but was nominated for 3 Tonys.

Parade ran for 85 performances, was nominated for 9 Tonys, and won 2.

I guess of those 3 only A Joyful Noise had a shorter run than Lestat.

Dear World closed before the 1969 Tony Awards ceremony (132 performances) and Angela Lansbury won the Tony...I'm sure she deserved it too.

Starmites ran for 60 performances and was nominated for 5 Tonys

Welcome to the Club ran a total of 12 performances and was nominated for 2 Tony Awards

..and all three of these shows were just from the 1988 -- 1989 season!

RAGS ran only 4 performances in August 1986. The show was nominated as Best Musical and in June 1987 performed the title song on the Awards telecast. I believe it is the nominee with te shortest run.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

There have been lots of short-run nominees. There have also been a lot of short run winners: Dolores Gray, Carnival in Flanders and Zoe Caldwell, Slapstick Tragedy each ran a week.

Debra Monk, Redwood Curtain; Michelle Pawk, Hollywood Arms; Alice Ghostley, The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window; Irene Worth, Sweet Bird of Youth; Linda Hopkins, Inner City; Liza, Flora the Red Menace; Bert Lahr, Foxy were all abbreviated runs.

There's probably a lot more.

urban cowboy didn't last too long and got 2 (the "original" score nom was hysterical for sheer number of names)
