Posted: 4/17/06 at 12:48pmWas either Telecharge or Ticketmaster from what I remember... They only took VISA for payment. They also didn't last very long.

Posted: 4/17/06 at 1:05pmThanks to connections, I have my order in. Sitting in the balcony. Not sure that what my seats are going for are the amount being charged to the general public but they are above $150.00. I was told the price went up this year.

I feel like tickets went on sale via ticketmaster last year in early May. I ended up having to get mine on Ebay, though, because even though I started trying as soon as it hit 9am, they were gone!
And yes, it's black tie.

Posted: 4/18/06 at 1:23pmDidn't they go on sale soon after the nominations were announced last year?
#14re: Tony Awards tickets
Posted: 4/18/06 at 1:49pmI think so. To the general public.

June 11th. Which, I think is a week later than usual. Don't the usually happen on the 1st Sunday in June?

I saw Spelling Bee the night before the Tony's last year, so that would have put the awards show on June 5th. Not too much later then...
Wish I could hang out at the red carpet again this year, but I'll be working at WDW.

Posted: 4/18/06 at 4:02pmHave been there twice. Had to wear a tux (everyone else also did). It was fun, especially seeing what went on during the many commercials....
#23re: Tony Awards tickets
Posted: 4/18/06 at 4:23pmI was told a tux isn't required. I was going to just do a suit and tie. But I am going to a funtion at Tavern on the Green the next evening so I will have a tux. Maybe I will just wear it to the awards.

I went a few years ago (the year THE PRODUCERS and PROOF won everything) and was unimpressed. I don't like going to awards shows personally (I've also been to the Oscars twice; big bores both times). I'd much rather be at home in my sweats with a bowl of popcorn than wearing a stuffy suit in the fourth ring of some theatre. Plus, at home I can mute the acceptance speeches.
