Tony Awards tickets

When will they go on sale? Bought them last year, but don't remember when they went on sale.

if you don't mind, how much did you pay last year?

If you don't mind, where did you buy your tickets.

re: Tony Awards tickets

A limited amount of tickets go on sale to the general public on Ticketmaster.

re: Tony Awards tickets

Was either Telecharge or Ticketmaster from what I remember... They only took VISA for payment. They also didn't last very long.

re: Tony Awards tickets

The cheapset ticket was like $175 or something like that.

re: Tony Awards tickets

Thanks to connections, I have my order in. Sitting in the balcony. Not sure that what my seats are going for are the amount being charged to the general public but they are above $150.00. I was told the price went up this year.

re: Tony Awards tickets

Just out of curiosity, is black tie required or is a suit and tie appropriate (and typical) attire?

re: Tony Awards tickets

I feel like tickets went on sale via ticketmaster last year in early May. I ended up having to get mine on Ebay, though, because even though I started trying as soon as it hit 9am, they were gone!

And yes, it's black tie.

Thanks Kate. I have a feeling I may end up getting them on Ebay too....

Ken....I am not wearing a tux. I don't think it is required.

re: Tony Awards tickets

Didn't they go on sale soon after the nominations were announced last year?

re: Tony Awards tickets

I think so. To the general public.

re: Tony Awards tickets

Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster the morning the nominations are announced and not one minute before.

re: Tony Awards tickets

I saw Spelling Bee the night before the Tony's last year, so that would have put the awards show on June 5th. Not too much later then...

Wish I could hang out at the red carpet again this year, but I'll be working at WDW.

This will be my 1st year going. I am pretty excited. It is a gift from a friend.

re: Tony Awards tickets

Have been there twice. Had to wear a tux (everyone else also did). It was fun, especially seeing what went on during the many commercials....

re: Tony Awards tickets

I was told a tux isn't required. I was going to just do a suit and tie. But I am going to a funtion at Tavern on the Green the next evening so I will have a tux. Maybe I will just wear it to the awards.

re: Tony Awards tickets

I went a few years ago (the year THE PRODUCERS and PROOF won everything) and was unimpressed. I don't like going to awards shows personally (I've also been to the Oscars twice; big bores both times). I'd much rather be at home in my sweats with a bowl of popcorn than wearing a stuffy suit in the fourth ring of some theatre. Plus, at home I can mute the acceptance speeches. re: Tony Awards tickets
