Last year at the beginning when Billy came on as the "host" and then Hugh, Billy was better, and I got kind of excited.
		     			I'd be excited about:

Rosie
Martin Short (LOOOOOOVE THIS IDEA!!!!)
Billy Crystal

I'd be happy with:

Nathan Lane
Man In The Chair
Hugh Jackson (but this is the LAST time! - at least for a while)
The Cast of WILL & GRACE

I'd hate:
Multiple Hosts
Harry Conick, Jr.
Oprah

This is really the only intersting "catagory" for the Tonys now.

Id love to see Rosie do it, she is amazing.

but int he same vein or lesbian talk show hosts, i wouldn't mind seeing Ellen host, but thats mostly cause i wouldn't mind seeing Ellen do most things.

OMG the cast of will and grace would make me sooooo happy!!!!
I think MArtin Short is the best suggestion yet! He can even do some of the fat guy he plays.

  He's freakin' Hilarious!!!

That'd be awesome if it was Bob Martin, as Man in Chair. I'd like to see Matthew and Nathan host. I definatly don't want to see Rosie or Julia Roberts.

I have been hoping for Angela Lansbury but I kinda want the host to be someone completely new and out of nowhere. (Carol Channing?!?) That would be fun.

Hugh Jackman did it when he was up (and won) for The Boy From Oz. (Off topic-there is a great interview in Oprah magazine with him, and a lot of it is about TBFO)

But I *thought* that they usually anounce the host before the nominees.

TOns of performers have hosted and been nominated (and won) in the same year.

I've read it, too
...Oprah tells Hugh that she only interviews people she really likes. Hugh has also mentioned in an Australian media interview that he sat together with Oprah in a dinner at the home of Barbra Streisand.

Maybe the TONYs people are trying to convince Oprah to host and Oprah is trying to convince Hugh to co-host with her

I just saw another interview with Hugh Jackman in Newsweek. Here is what it is:

The claws come out when Hugh Jackman reprises his role as Wolverine in "X-Men 3." He spoke to Newsweek's Ramin Setoodeh.

Ramin Setoodeh: Who would win in a fight: Wolverine or Superman?
Hugh Jackman: I'm kind of racking my brain about Superman's powers: body of steel, he can fly. Can he do lasers? I just have a feeling that if they got into close range, Wolverine can beat anybody. Superman would go down in six rounds.

RS: Are you naturally that hairy?
HJ: In this movie, I'm wearing a wig. But the chest hair is mine. I'm not sure if I'm meant to be proclaiming that.

RS: Did you need to wax for "The Boy From Oz"
HJ: No. Peter Allen lived in a time before waxing. But I'm sure he would've gone for it.

RS: I've got to confess. When I saw you on Broadway, I waited by the stage door for your autograph.
HJ: Stage door? Come on, you're kidding. I'm glad I didn't blow it off that night, or this might be a really bad article.

RS: Now you're moving to New York
HJ: We're going to have to bite the bullet and rent, I think. My wife is fussy, and it's a lot of money to live in New York.

RS: But I bet you can afford it.
HJ: Do I have the money? Yes. But I still strugle with how expensive it is. It feels a bit obscene.

RS: Maybe you should try Brooklyn.
HJ: As my wife says, "I've come all the way from Australia. I'm not living in Brooklyn.

RS: You've got six movies coming up.
HJ: When it rains, it pours. But I don't really have any plans after "The Boy From Oz" in Australia. Are you going to come? Come on. If you do, don't wait outside- just knock on the door and let me know you're there.

I am completely behind Bob Martin as Man in Chair hosting the Tony's!! That would be hilarious!! I can see it very clearly in my mind. Probably not going to happen, but it's great to imagine.
my friend, who's in her late 40's and loooves her some Hugh Jackman, told me a few weeks ago she was watching him on Leno or some other talk show and he said he would be returning as Tony's host.

I assume she'd know if it was a repeat and he was talking about last year's awards, but maybe not...

I'd. effing. LOVE. the cast of Will & Grace to host. Would effing love it.

I saw the Leno appearance - no talk about TONY hosting this year, even if Jay had complimented Hugh for winning over him in the EMMYs

As a matter of fact, someone was supposed to have asked Hugh about it during the Brett Ratner photo exhibit in NYC and he was supposed to have said in a forthright manner that " I wasn't asked" and he did mention that he will be going home to Australia for his father's milestone birthday ( if you had seen the Leno interview, he had everyone singing Happy Birthday in the audience as he went around with videocam in hand, for a surprise greeting from Leno and the crowds for his Dad), so there would be a schedule conflict. Plus he is expected go into TBFO-OZ rehearsals shortly.

He is overly busy promoting XMEN - Mexico the other day, then Berlin and Cannes, after which he winds up for a lot of talk show appearances in NYC. Hey, maybe there is time for him to tape a short greeting to the commercial break crowds at RCMH

I love Hugh, I really do. But it gets boring after a while w/ the same person hosting year after year. He should come back and host but only after someone else has given it a try.
lol. she sucks. She called me JUST to tell me he said he'd be hosting again, I remember biting my tongue cause I thought he stunk last year as a host and she was so thrilled he'd be back...I'm gonna kick her butt, that liar. maybe it was just wishful thinking - who knows? sorry about that.

how long til they'll announce someone do you think?

I am most excited to see THE FOUNTAIN ( Darren Aronofsky saw him in TBFO and cast him immediately in this longstanding project of Darren) and THE PRESTIGE ( the movie based on the novel of the same name, with Christian Bale, Scarlett Johansson, Michael Caine and David Bowie - you've got a Broadway musical theatre or movie musical team over there
). It should also be fun to see him in SCOOP, the Woody Allen comedy thriller with Scarlett Johansson shot in London...and THE XMEN:The Last Stand (I'm learning to be a fangirl -LOL)

Are you inviting everyone to visit you backstage, Mr. Jackman -- you might be sorry

I wonder how the show will look like in an arena venue? He did say that they are planning to use 100 children when they sing I STILL CALL AUSTRALIA HOME and 40-50 Rockettes for EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN ! I am going to Sydney for this one - it is actually closer to home than Broadway
