Yes, Magruder. But her prior commitment was to the OFF-Broadway production of DOUBT.

Hays has a relationship with Wilson going back to FENCES.

If she brings DOUBT to Broadway this season, she's hurting GEM OF THE OCEAN. Not just in Tony award nominations, but probably in ticket sales, as the audience for straight plays on Broadway is finite. It's never an advantage, from a producer's standpoint, to compete against yourself. It also could be very detrimental to her relationship with Wilson if he perceives her to be undermining GEM.

Regardless of what her original intentions were, she's basically screwed, at this point in time.

There's no conflict of interest as long as DOUBT stays Off-Broadway.

There are myriad scenarios that could transpire, and I'm not Dionne Warwick, I have no idea what will happen. I'm just spitballin' here.

But I suspect that if DOUBT moves to Broadway this season, it will bury GEM OF THE OCEAN. If I were the producer of both shows, and wanted to maintain a relationship with the creative staff of GEM OF THE OCEAN, I'd do everything in my power to postpone DOUBT until next season.

(And really, they don't need to postpone it for a year. They just need to re-open it after the May Tony deadline.)

Personally, I hope that DOUBT does open this season. I'd much rather see Cherry Jones accepting a Tony than be forced to listen to a repeat of Rashad's bizarre, egomaniacal rant from last year.

So what about Best Musical Revival? I can only think of 3 that are coming/came out this past season:
~La Cage aux folles
~Pacific Overtures
~Sweet Charity

although I don't think Pacific overtures will get nominated b/c of its reviews... also does anyone know if Christina Applegate is nominee worthy? I haven't heard too much about her part
