Where and what time will the Tony Nominations be announced? I will be in New York on May 1st and would love to be in the "room where it happens" lol Is there a way to get tickets? Any info is helpful Thanks
In recent years it was normally announced at 8:30AM ET.
From the Tony Awards website http://www.tonyawards.com/en_US/multimedia/calendar/index.html it looks like it will be announced live from Lincoln Center (NY Public Library for the Performing Arts).
It's never anything fancy....but I don't know if the public is permitted. You're probably still better off just watching the feed
I was thinking about adding a second show to my end of May trip to NYC, namely “The Band’s Visit”. I was going to wait until getting there to see what TKTS had available and what discount I could possibly get. Right now ticket availability looks fairly good. The show will also begin digital lottery sales of $40 “same day tickets” on March 16th which may affect this as well.
When the Tony Nominations are announced, what affect does it usually have on the demand for shows nominationed Best Musical? Do ticket sales usually go through the roof? The ticket I’m looking at now is around $160, but have been seeing discounts of up to 40-50% for various shows on TKTS.
Should I chance waiting until getting NYC to buy tickets for the show? I’m looking at front mezzanine.
dmwnc1959, I got my ticket from TKTS and it was about $70 if I'm remembering correctly. That being said, I was in the rear mez and I think that contributed to not really "getting" the feel of the show. If I were you, I would splurge on the ticket, or check out Stubhub-- I've seen Band's Visit tickets for $29 before.

If you would rather guarantee a seat in advance instead of waiting, TodayTix is having a no-fee promotion for The Band's Visit right now for dates through the end of May. $45 rear mezz, $95 front mezz or side orchestra.
And as already mentioned, take a look at StubHub!
Thank you upinlights and Danielle49 for the recommendations and personal experience. I gave both websites a look and think I need to go ahead make a decision before they make the Tony Nominations announcement, just in case things get crazy.
I got a great orchestra seat for $19 for THE BAND'S VIST on STUBHUB.
Best $19 I ever spent.
What an amazing show fueled by Yazbek's beautiful score and a grand cast.
CurtainPullDowner, was that a matinee or a weeknight performance? I was in the rear mez and I feel like I didn't get the full experience of the show, so i would love to see it again (at a cheaper price).
