Posted: 6/6/05 at 3:20pmwhat'd you think of it. i liked how each bit of the number led into the next. i just noticed that john lithgow like flung norbie as a joke it was hilarious. i loved hearing matt morrison siong in piazza! love the sexy italian accent he puts on! what i thought was weird was that they didnt sing dirty rotten number because of the spoil factor with screwed for 50 grand, yet theys ung that part. so i figured that DRN wouldve been better than GBS but hey. lol. haha the opening with billy crystal is on now, that was hilarious

Sorry, I just don't understand the sentence!

Posted: 6/6/05 at 3:52pmI did like the opening number a bit more last year, mostly because it integrated hugh more and used more performers. Still...I'm not gonna lie, I loved it anyway 'cause Matt Morrison got to sing :0)

Posted: 6/6/05 at 3:54pmHated it. Last year's was such a thrill. It made me want to go out and get tickets to every show on Bway. It was wonderful, exciting, and fun. This year's opening seemed like it was just randomly patched together with no rhyme or reason.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 3:54pmI was a bit wary of this opening number and yet I absolutely loved it. My only wish is that they would have cut the Somewhere performance later in the show and used the extra time to extend this one out.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 3:57pm((runs to get last years video)) cserannie- what happened was john lithgow took norberts arm and sort of spun him around. it was really funny!

I really did love it last year, but I also liked the way they did it this year. I think it's great that they previewed each of the musicals nominated, I have mentioned this in other threads... but why not here?
Last year the opening was very energized... of course with Hugh and his high-kicks, but I really enjoyed this years. I loved that Matthew Morrison, whom I absolutely adore got to sing my favorite song in Piazza... yay!
I also loved this: "I'm nominated for a Tony this year"~Billy Crystal "Well, Billy I already have a Tony"~Hugh

cserannie - flung is the past tense of "fling" which may be in there
It may well be derived from "swing" and "fly" put together...so there's the picture for your head :)

Posted: 6/6/05 at 6:06pmHow many years in a row have they used the same set for the ceremony? I know it's at least two. It bothered me.
