hey!
i just have a question, say The Colour Purple closed within the next 6 months, but then gets revived again in 4 years, but Cynthia reprises her role, would she be eligible to win the Tony again? Has it ever happened where an actor has won a Tony twice for the same role?

She wouldn't be eligible the second time if she was playing the same role. It's called the Alan Cumming rule.

It's not called the Alan Cumming rule, and he was not the first to be ruled ineligible for playing the same role. Just off the top of my head you had Yul Brynner (ineligible for 2 different revivals of The King and I), Carol Channing (ineligible for two different revivals of Hello, Dolly!) and Lonette McKee (ineligible for the Hal Prince revival of Show Boat after being nominated for a prior revival in the 80s).

Even if she hadn't been nominated, she still wouldn't be eligible for Tony consideration if she reprises the same role in the future on Broadway. If she plays a different role in the show, she would be eligible.

speaking of tonys i noticed watching the 2004 telecast that i was unable to find the memoriam section. i was looking for someone in particular who was famous enough to be shown and wondering if anyone knows if theres a clip of it.

I seem to recall that there have been some years where it was not shown on the telecast, so it could be that 2004 was one of those years (2004 predates social media so I can't go back and see if there was outrage on Facebook to confirm that).

I have a question that's related to the thread title. When someone gets nominated they get a pay raise(and then if they win they get another) would those pay raises like "transfer" on to the next the show that actor/actress is a part of? I understand pay all has to do with negotiations and minimums, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

since when do you get a raise with a nomination or win? isn't that why all those people from Hamilton are leaving?

A bit of an exaggeration since LMM is going to shoot Mary Poppins and work on Moana, plus Phillipa is going off to do Amelie in LA...

It is not unusual to have a pay bump negotiated into a contract for awards nominations and wins. However, going back to jorge's question, no, it would not "transfer" to their next job. They may use it as leverage to attempt to negotiate a higher salary or perks, but it's not a guarantee that it will lead to a higher salary or perks than what the producer was already planning on offering.
