Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully I'll be at the concert as well.

Anyone else planning to attend the concert?
Thanks, Dolly. Any word from him on the announced national tour he was to be headlining?

I really enjoyed reading that article, it's great.

Thank you, Namo.
As for the tour: Tony and I spoke about it but decided not to include it in the article because nothing was definite. I can say that there's a strong possibility that Tony will only be appearing in certain cities. Again, nothing is definite at this point and the tour may not be going out for some time.

"Thank you, Namo.
Thanks, Dolly, appreciate the response. Reminds me of when an actor promoting a film with a limited release would come on Letterman and Dave would say the dates it opened in select cities and then tell the audience to "pray that your city has been selected."
Luckily, in those case s(and, I'm guessing this case as well), LA would definitely be... selected. Hopefully the tour becomes a reality. Despite it's disappointing box office performance on Broadway, I could imagine it doing very well in subscription tour houses.

Tony mentioned that the tour might be a year off and many things might change. That's why both he and I decided not to mention it in the article.
I can't understand why the show isn't packing them in. The word of mouth is sensational. Tony is beyond exceptional in the role but I can't help but wonder if the show would perform better if someone like Derek Hough was brought in. (Yeah, yeah, I know Derek is doing his own show this summer. I was speaking hypothetically)
Yes, I'll be there on Sunday and I'm so looking forward to it.
It is not packing them in as many people do not have the resources to see every show produced as a number on this board have. They have to pick & choose. In addition, this has already had a few revivals. The biggest reason is the theater is simply to big. If this had gone into a smaller theater it would have thrived or at least done better than it has. The target demographic now is young people. As good as it is, they do not want to see a revival of an MGM musical. I can guarantee, many have no idea what an MGM musical is. They are hooked on Heathers & the forthcoming Frozen. This they will sell their right arm for.
People are fixated on stuff like Wicked while good theater & serious theater goes begging for customers. A shame but it is the truth.

Hi Roxy! Hoping all's well on your end.
I took two of my grandchildren to a recent matinee and not only did they both love it, they can't stop playing the obc--much to their father's chagrin. From what I could see, the show was close to sold out, although I couldn't get a good view of the upper regions. It WAS a weekend matinee.
I did say to Tony that I hoped the show was still around in August when we plan a return visit and his response was an ominous "I hope so, too."

Whhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Except when it doesn't go begging for customers, in which case you're not interested in that either. Fun Home. Just didn't grab you. Explain how that makes you superior to the people who like Wicked?

ON THE TOWN is NOT and MGM musical. It's a work of art. The godawful movie cut most of the score and replaced it with tripe.
The show that's on-stage at the Lyric shows the genius of Bernstein, along with Comden and Green (to a lesser extent Robbins because the dances are done in the "Robbins style" and are not 100% Robbins)
One of the girls in my neighborhood loves the movie. I'm taking her to see the show live to prove to her what an astonishing work it really is.

So in conclusion it seems that Roxy doesn't even know what an MGM musical is?

I saw On the Town 3 weeks ago when I was in NYC. It was one of eight shows that I saw and it was one of my absolute favorites. Such an incredible production! So much humor and so much heart. I got teary eyed when Tony Yazbeck performed Lonely Town. He has got to be one of the best leading men on Broadway! I'm so glad I got the chance to see this wonderful show.
I adore Tony and I'm bummed to hear that the announced tour with him isn't actually definite but hopefully everything works out.
Totally agree Dolly & that is unusual that we agree

Tony was out of today's matinee. His understudy is a good dancer but lacking in any charisma whatsoever.
Kevin Worley has gone on a few times for Yazbeck already. But there's actually three u/s for Gabey: Worley, Brandon Leffler & Michael Rosen.
