Anyone else miss the Tony's at Radio City?? I sure do. The Tony's at the Beacon are not the same. Not to put down the Beacon as a venue but it just seems depressing to have the Tonys there. First off, Broadway fans such as myself can't get tickets to attend and be a part of the Tony's. Simply, because the venue isn't large enough to accomodate us. Also, the Beacon is far less glamorous and seems to be too far away from the excitement of the B'way theater district. It's all the way on the upper west side. And for what, Zarkana?? By far the least amusing cirque show I've ever seen. (Please note, I'm a huge fan of cirque)My friend who is an even bigger cirque fan hated it as well. Bottom line is the Tony's need to be at Radio City and Cirque should be at Randalls Island.

For the love of God, it is "TONYS" - plural of Tony (Award), you're putting a ****ing apostrophe in the word "TONY'S" means something belongs to "Tony"

Okay. We'll see what we can do to please you.
The Beacon is a little more intimate than Radio City. It really belongs in a Broadway theater but that will never happen again. Radio City is a very nice looking barn. The Roxy was much more elaborate and almost as big
I am glad RC was saved but would rather have the Roxy if I had a choice. The Beacon is a better venue for the Tonys
In my opinion probably right. Look at pictures of both theaters before you judge.
I still think they ought to be held IN A BROADWAY THEATRE like they used to be. Why should they be held at Radio City? So all 500 producers of LEAP OF FAITH can get Orchestra seats? Jeez! At least the Beacon is more intimate.

With this being the final year of rental of Radio City by the "Cirque" people, hopefully The Tony Awards shall return 2013, if Radio City isn't booked
You're not alone. Radio City makes it an event. The Beacon had no space and the use of the video screen for sets sucked.
That's funny. When I heard that the Tonys were moving to the Beacon, I was disappointed. I'd assumed, as was said here that it would lose that sense of occasion and be far less glamorous, etc.
Speaking as a television viewer, the move worked brilliantly. To my eyes the show felt just as grand but because we weren't on that massive stage the performances felt so much more immediate. I was impressed at how quickly the backstage team was able to transition seamlessly from one set up to another in the Beacon. Although it's not a Broadway theatre, the event felt more "Broadway" to me in the Beacon than it ever did at Radio City. Is there a thrill in hearing all of Radio City standing and cheering? (think Bernadette's 'Rose's Turn' or Patti's 'Everything's Coming Up Roses')... sure, but I don't think it's worth it for the wonderful sense of intimacy I got watching the telecast from the Beacon.
If I change my name to Tony, can I go to Radio City Music Hall too?
