Ugh, last minute trip to Australia. . . does anyone know if they show the Tony's here. At least I get to see Wicked in Melbourne. Apologies if this is the wrong forum of this question. Good'day Mates
Unlike the Academy Awards/Oscars... which award the best in motion pictures, which are seen around the world -- the Tony Awards are presented for the best of New York theater, therefore its quite redundant for them to air around the world as there is no reason.
We have enough of a hard time trying to find a television audience for the Tony Awards here IN the United States as it is. Int'l broadcast of the ceremonies wouldn't even be considered.
Better get someone at home to Tivo/tape it for ya. It also won't be appearing on CBS' website in their FULL EPISODES section (unlike MISS AMERICA).
TV Tonight:
Broadway's 62nd Tony Awards are again being beamed live to Australian viewers...
The Bio Channel will screen the event live at 10am AEST on Monday June 16.
Bio will repeat the Tonys the same night at 8:30pm.

Foxtell/Austar have been showing it for years. Back in the 80's very early 90's Channel 2 use to show it on Saturday afternoon the week after the event took place.
Marlothom - how long are you here on your last minute trip? Are you aware that Wicked doesn't preview until July?
Rosscoe(au) - I soooo miss the days when the Tonys were on 2 on a Saturday arvo.
Wicked first preview 27th June.
June? Really? Oh that's good - thanks for clearing that up.
Is it still set to open July 12th?
Opening night July 12th.
I wish the ABC would start doing the Tonys again, it was like there summer musical season.. Into The Woods, Sweeney, Passion, that was a way to spend a Sunday night
I know - they were the days. Occasionally they still show something of interest e.g Candide but it's rare.
The Tony Awards are screened live here at 10am-1pm Monday morning on Foxtel/Optus cable Biography Channel. They are repeated at 8.30pm that evening.
Is it a delayed transmission for the U.S. West Coast? We see it at 10am Monday ( 8pm Sunday NY time) Does this mean we see it before the U.S. West Coast?
