Tony winners who’s careers didn’t take off after winning.

After his Tony for Spider Woman he eventually came back in Parade, but he seems to have worked consistently in many prominent stage roles in his home country since and I don’t think he was ever interested in Hollywood.

It is the same [Helen Gallagher]. I didn't know about the daytime TV soap opera. Steady income, but seems like a real step down."
To the millions of fans of Ryan's Hope throughout its 15-year run, it no doubt seemed like a step up. She was already in her mid-40s when she won for No No Nanette, and a steady soap role must have been awfully welcome at that point, as well as affording her wider name recognition throughout the country than most Tony winners will ever get.

How many musical actresses had 2 Tonys in a leading role almost 50 years ago; and, despite being around for a long time, she didn't seem that old to me (and I was only 21 when I first saw No No Nanette in Boston). I thought we'd see more of her on the great white way than we did; and I don't recall seeing herin any featured roles in TV or movies. I thought it was a shame that a trooper would have such a career high on Broadway, and pretty much never appear again, although I may be forgetting something. (I had previously seen her in Sweet Charity, Mame (as Gooch), and Cry For Us All, and thought she was terrific in all of them, essentially a 'musical comedy character actress'. I really didn't think she gave a Tony worthy performance in a leading role for No No Nanette, but she would have richly deserved a supporting one. To my way of thinking, it was a real shame that we didn't see her after that.

I agree it's a shame, but the 1970s weren't kind to American performers in American musicals (ANNIE and A CHORUS LINE excepted). As someone else pointed out, Gallagher was busy doing RYAN'S HOPE up through 1989. She did extended runs on three other soaps in the 1990s.
Wikipedia lists various shows she did outside NYC, plus she worked as a choreographer and a teacher.
