I saw someone post on social media that someone appeared to be too old to be a fan of a show (wasn’t clear on tv or Broadway). But either way-that’s insane. If it’s Broadway, we don’t dictate how old fans are!! It was insane. How could you try to control how old fans are? That’s the beauty of theater-it touches people of ALL AGES. There’s no age limit (unless it’s material that would not be appropriate for a younger audience, like
a 10 year old seeing Heathers the musical). Otherwise, how could someone try to control that? Insanity.

But HEATHERS is targeted to 10 year olds.

Heartbreaking how people truly pay attention to crap like this. If you want to be a fan of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID at age 72, so be it. No one is paying your rent, or your taxes, or your bills so who cares what you do or what they think? People and their unsolicited judgment and opinions. ![]()

Art is subjective. People have different attitudes, tastes, preferences, and interests. To each their own. No one should be subject to ageism because they like something that may not be targeted to their specific demographic.

FAR from it! I actually don’t know what they do aside from borderline stalking people at stagedoors AND events where they might meet famous people

I agree. People should stop being fans once they reach the age of 30.

…after which point they become “fans” of their spouse, their slippers, their pipe and the evening newspaper? Perhaps with a Mantovani or Mitch Miller record on the phonograph, if that isn’t too raucous and juvenile.

As a real fan and gray hair and older than 72, I would like to say that I think the movie score of The Little Mermaid by Ashman and Menken is one of the greatest ever written. The melodies are fantastic and the lyrics some of the cleverest ever written. There are different tastes, not different fans.

In a similar vein, I've heard people tell others that they shouldn't like certain music because of their skin colour !!! As in in your white so you can not like rap music, etc

Then you consider HELLO, DOLLY! to me a mere show and I consider it a religious experience
