Posted: 10/27/18 at 2:52pmI posted my answer before having stepped foot in the Cort and I want to add it to my list but in both spots. The leg room is great, I like the layout, but the seats are literally falling apart and it just screams "please, renovate me, I'm dying".

My favorite theatre is the one with the best show and my least favorite is the one with the worst show.
In 50 years of theatregoing I honestly can't remember much about any venue that has made or spoiled my experience.
And these are theatre-lovers?

Favorite:
- The Music Box - I just love the history of this place. And I love that it isn’t too big. Plus the two shows I have seen there (Pippin and Dear Evan Hansen) were both great.
- The Broadhurst - I love that it’s small and I love all the seats in it. Not the greatest foot room but I have amazing memories in that theatre.
- The Circle and The Square - being in this theatre is just an experience that’s different every time.
Honorable mention: the minskoff has the most beautiful lobby.
Least favorite
- the Palace - I know it’s being renovated but the balcony just feels like another world
- the Cort - it’s just so old and disgusting
- the August Wilson - I hated the mezzanine here. And I didn’t like the bathroom situation.

Just stumbled across this article, not sure when it was published but it’s several months old. It’s a bit of a fun read, with some strong adult language at the beginning of the rankings...

Hogan - I go to see the shows I want to see wherever they are situated. But sometimes I am comfortable and sometimes I am uncomfortable. It doesn't change my reaction to the show - just the chiropractor bills after the show.

One of my favorites is the Eugene O'Neill Theater... great seating in every place! Plus, I found the seats were so comfortable! Even the person who I was with (who is 6'5) said they were awesome considering he hates seeing shows because of the limited leg room!
Richard Roger's theater was nice too! I won the Hamilton lottery and had center row B and it was AMAZING!!! Never had an experience like that... I was so amazed!
Finally, the Broadhurst... not my fav. Seats were odd and very tight leg room in orchestra, and I am short-ish (I'm 5'4) and I thought I barely had enough room! However, it was a small theater so it gives you a pretty good view wherever you sit (besides the extreme sides... but those are lottery/super cheap).
But then again, I am usually happy that I am seeing a show... so seats don't really matter to me as long as I can see and not thinking too much about how uncomfortable the seats may be

Favorites:
Circle in the Square (makes for an interesting layout no matter how many times you go)
Gershwin (although massive, good views from everywhere and it still blows my mind that Wicked can fill that thing 8 times a week)
Majestic (mostly because it was my first show and in my memory it's fantastic)
Honorable mention: The Hudson (was well run and beautiful and the balcony seats are a great view)
Least Favorites:
St. James (sitting in that balcony feels like you're going to fall right into the orchestra it' so steep)
Ambassador (for it's lack of lobby, and the bathroom situation is pitiful)
August Wilson (I'm 5'5" and I felt crammed in those mezz seats)

I love the different Broadway theatres and find things unique about each of them. I've seen shows in all but 5 (Longacre, Ambassador, Nederlander, Winter Garden, Minskoff) and can't wait to have been to all 41.
FAVORITE:
-Friedman. Every time I sit down to see a show in this house I think to myself, "wow, I am comfortable." There is no seat too far away from the stage and the seats are wide and comfy. They did a great job renovating it.
-Circle In the Square. It's as intimate as Broadway theatres come. No seat is far from the action.
-Belasco. It's just a beautiful house.
LEAST FAVORITE:
-Hayes Theatre. I think the renovation is cute, but the leg room in the balcony is claustrophobia-inducing and I'm surprised the staircase to the basement restrooms was approved by firecode.
-Lunt-Fontanne. I think it's just ugly on the inside.
-Palace. I'm excited to see the renovation, because it was stripped of all of its ornamentations. I can't wait to see them bring it back to its former opulence.

Posted: 10/28/18 at 2:01pmI have to say, I’m not so fond of Circle in the Square as everyone else seems to be. I tend to believe a theatre is only as intimate as its worst seats, and to be honest, when I sit on one of the far ends of CITC, and I’m sitting in one of the last rows, it doesn’t feel all that’s intaimte to me. Again, it has more to do with the shape than the size. I don’t like how long the oval is. If something is happening all the way on the other side of the stage, it feels like miles away to me.

GOOD
I have always been really pleased with the sight-lines in the Richard Rodgers. It's the theatre I've been to the most, and I've never had difficulty seeing anything. I also love the grandness and the beauty of it.
CITS was also fantastic, literally no bad seat. It's always a plus in my book when I can pay less and see more haha. I will take away points for the fact that there are basically two benches in the entire lobby, and you are not allowed to sit on the stairs, the floor, or anywhere else but those two benches (which fill up mighty fast) because it is apparently a fire hazard and for being far away, comparatively.
Schoenfeld also makes my list. Felt intimate, great sight-lines even though I had a terrible seat. I feel like I would be happy sitting basically anywhere in the theatre.
BAD
At the music box I felt like I was trying to maneuver around the heads of the people in front of me just to keep up with the plot. I haven't been back since Pippin, but that feeling stayed with me so here's a thumbs down. Real pretty though.
Gershwin always felt soulless to me, with no decor once you get into the theatre. Points for the awesome lobby and lots of space throughout, but loses points for being FAR compared to others.
Note: I haven't been to that many, as somehow I keep repeating theatres often. I do not sit in the mezz if I can help it and I do not tend to use the washroom at the theatre so I am not judging in that. I've not had significant issues with legroom in a broadway theatre (Now, the theatres back home...)

Posted: 10/28/18 at 3:39pmI also find that my favorite theatres are the ones where I’ve enjoyed the shows I’ve seen there. The Barrymore (Curious Incident twice, Band’s Visit twice), Circle in the Square (Fun Home, OOTI), Music Box (DEH), and the Hayes (I love Second Stage). My least favorite is probably the Shubert because I didn’t enjoy Dolly and it was very difficult to see in the balcony.
