Here's my top three, in no order (except Hugh is #1 lol)
Nathan Lane
Hugh Jackman
Tovah Feldshuh
If you look at their accomplishments this year, they are clear winners.
Sorry, just have to try out my new icon...
1. Idina Menzel
2. Sutton Foster (Will be opening the best show ever in December!)
3. Ma-anne Dianisio
Three tours de force in acting this season:
Jefferson Mays
Hugh Jackman
Phylicia Rashard
Without a doubt, Hugh Jackman. The man was heads and shoulders above everyone else in the realm of accomplishments this year.
If I had to name two other people, I'd say Raul Esparza and Michael Arden, for upping the amount of exposure and recognition they've received this year; recognition that goes beyond any one role they played (ie. over the course of a few months, Arden has become a well-known name as an actor in Bare, a composer, a concert singer, and now has landed the title role in Pippin; Esparza has established a strong reputation as a versatile performer).
Although her speech was nice and blah blah blah, I do not understand how Idina Menzel won that tony and HOW she was mentioned as one of the top three most accomplished actors of 2004. How about most overrated actors of 2004? And Cheyanne? How is he one of the most accomplished Actors of 2004, no one even knows who he is. Because he was cast as a lead in a Broadway musical? Then why don't we just go off and name every leading actor in Bombay Dreams, they did the same thing. Anyway. Mine would be - broadway only, I'm not including movies:
Jefferson Mays
Michael Cerveris

Sorry. I couldn't pick only 3.
1) Micheal Arden
*His performance in BARE is one of the best this season. He has the perfect mix of a WONDERFUL, POWERFUL tenor voice and honest, focused acting. He will be broadways newest STAR in a few years.
2.) Jefferson Mays
*What can I say? He carried that show. It was just him on stage the entire show and I never once lost interest. He played like 20 different characters and each one was dead on!
3.) Raul Esparza
*Raul in my favorite reoccurring actor in broadway now. He is amazing. First of all he did not one but two great shows this season (A NORMAL HEART AND TABOO). His performance in TABOO was at hillarious and touching at the same time. I will remember him in the song "Petrified" for the rest of my life.
4.) Hugh Jackman
*A superstar. So much stage precense! Deserved the TOny he won! Saved that show. One the the best performances I have ever seen.
Heather Raffo for "Nine Parts of Desire"
Estelle Parsons for "The Day Emily Married"
Raul Esparza for "The Normal Heart"
Hugh Jackman
Idina Menzel
Phylicia Rashad
MEN
1. Raul Esparza
2. Hugh Jackman
3. John Tartaglia
WOMEN
1. Idina Menzel
2. Eden Espinosa
3. Stephanie D'Abruzzo
(....in my opinion)
