Travel insurance for tickets?

I'm flying out of SFO around 10:30 PM on Thursday, and getting into Newark at 6:30 AM on Friday. I have tickets for Kiss Me Kate that evening at 8 PM.

I'm worried because the Bay Area is supposed to get hit with really bad weather (my airline just sent an email saying we could make itinerary changes for free, which says a lot)

Is it too late to get some kind of insurance on my Kiss Me Kate ticket, just in case I get really delayed, or can't get out of SFO aat all?

I don't believe Roundabout offers travel insurance. I think only Ticketmaster does?

Yes, Ticketmaster does. I bought insurance on my Tootsie tickets, in large part because they offer very generous policy on reimbursement for a whole host of travel-related issues.

Hmm, unfortunately I may be out of luck since I used Roundabout's ticketing system. I think Ticketmaster uses Allianz for insurance - any idea if they'll insure tickets bought from other platforms, like Roundabout?

Roundabout has always been stellar for me in customer service. Why not call them and ask about your options?

Not a bad idea - I'll give that a try tomorrow morning.

I'm *hoping* that if I do enough worrying, everything will end up being fine

I would call Roundabout and let them know of your weather concerns. This way someone (hopefully a supervisor that you will get their name) has documented your call under your order, in the event your flight is late or is cancelled. I wouldn't even mention the ticket insurance. Let them bring it up, which I doubt they will. Why pay extra for something if they are willing to reschedule or refund without it. I had a customer service issue with them years ago and they were very amicable in resolving it for me.

They're OK for weather and such, and even then, I'm not sure if they will do it if the weather is at your origin rather than in NYC. But if your flight is delayed normally, they'll usually default to exchanges being a perk of membership and then not really offer you any option but sucking it up or becoming a member.

The big storm is supposed to hit Wednesday into Thursday morning. The forecast for Thursday evening is light rain and some wind. You might be delayed a bit but they're not going to cancel your flight over light rain. You've got a 13 1/2 hour cushion at the other end. You'll be fine.
