Two of my friends and I want to sing a trio for a cabaret workshop we are doing, but we can only think of two trios. (By the way, I used the search feature, and I couldn't find a post on this, so... sorry if it has been
Our ranges are:
Alto (pretty much all chest, decent head voice, can go pretty low)
Soprano (not a great range, absolutely cannot belt, very breathy)
Mine: Low D to E above high C. I'm mostly a belter, but I also have a strong soprano voice. NO, i don't think much of my friends voices, but that's ok, we still want to sing a trio. the only ones we can think of are:
Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now
Motherhood March (from Hello Dolly, which we don't really want to do)
Please help. If you could find songs within our ranges, it would be great, but at this point, we just need any trios that there are.
If you want you could rearrange Seasons Of Love and have you be the soloist since you're the strongest singer.

I remember this thread.
"I Want It All" from BABY.
EDIT: I just read the beginning. Never mind.
You could drive a person crazy is awesome. I love "you gotta get a gimmick", but it seems that one gets thrown out a lot these days.
Baby Dream Your Dream or There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This, both from Sweet Charity
All Girl Band from A My Name Is Alice (not vocally demanding - we usually give this to our kids who aren't the best vocally cause 1. it's fun, and 2. it' sa great stepping stone to building their voices up for solo potential, plus it still gives someone who CAN sing a chance to shine)
An Urchin song. They're the first thing that comes to mind when someone says "trio" :)
There is a beautiful trio from
"Do I Hear A Waltz"
by Rodgers and Sondhelm
Know those guys?
"Moon in My Window"
it expresse love from three women's viewpoints
give it a listen
you have to get your hands on the recording of the 'witches of eastwick'.
the ENTIRE musical consists of brilliant trios for three individual women. it's stunning
an essential look for any trio examination/performance
You should def do "You could drive a person crazy" from company, and you should use (or base) the choreography from Hey Mr Producer! Cameron Mackintosh with Lea Salonga.
Sing for Your Supper from The Boys from Syracuse.
There's a FABULOUS FABULOUS trio song from Closer than Ever (by Maltby and Shire) called "Three Friends"; the show only has two girls and two boys so the third girl part was sung by a boy in the show, but it's written perfectly for 3 women. It's a really fun song!
Just wanted to put in another vote for The Witches of Eastwick (surprise!)
There are three songs you might be interested in - Make him mine, I wish I may, and Look at Me - all are trios and have some beautiful harmonies. All these songs are avialable in the vocal selections book.
Hairspray, Caroline or Change, and LSOH are some shows featuring a trio of women singing.

"Baby, Dream Your Dream" is a song for two women, not three. I'll second "You Can Drive A Person Crazy"; that seems to be the perfect number for this situation.

"There Goes the Ballgame" by Kander and Ebb. I know it's performed as a trio in their revue, And the World Goes 'Round - I'm not sure how it was original performed, but it's great in that 3 part harmony.
I'd also like to second the vote for "I Want It All" from Baby.
I'm not sure whether it's possible to get the music for this, but I think that 'Angels Arise' from Dance of the Vampires was a trio.
Audra McDonald, Marin Mazzie and Judy Kuhn sang a fantastic medley of songs from Lloyd Webber shows which was amazing. While not technically a trio, it really seemed like one. You should look at the My Favorite Broadway DVD or cd for the performance.

This song could be for 3 women - "Triplets" I think its by Schwartz/Deitz. It's a vintage number and very funny.
You could always do "Dreamgirls" or "One Night Only" from DREAMGIRLS or "Little Shop of Horrors". One of my favorites has been mentioned already and shows lots of range types "Sing for Your Supper."
Enjoy!
"You Outta Be Here With Me" from BIG RIVER
"The Man Nobody Could Love" from LEGS DIAMOND
"Turkey Lurkey Time" from PROMISES, PROMISES
Thanks you guys! Also, I feel bad for saying I don't care for my friends' voices. My friend who can go really low and is an alto has a good voice that meshes well with mine. I stick by what I said about my other friend though.
