In Charles Isherwood's review of Sylvia this morning, he writes a joke lede where he says A.R. Gurney's "dark drama about a psychopath with tendencies toward bestiality, opened at the Cort Theater on Broadway". That made me think of another play at the Cort, the infamous Leda Had a Little Swan. That play, which had something to do with children being given animals to support them through puberty, closed in previews in 1968, and fans of William Goldman's The Season will remember the uproarious chapter where he describes the angry walkouts occurring during a performance.
So, the Sylvia review made me think of Leda, which sent me to do a Google image search. I had never seen the artwork, but to my surprise, the window card turned up.

It turns out that Triton Gallery discovered a box in their warehouse, filled with many rare window cards for hits and flops alike. I figured that if anyone here hadn't seen them, they might enjoy looking at them. Link: http://tritongallery.com/triton/frameset_large.htm. In particular, I love that poster for Plain and Fancy.

Here's another rarity (and another legendary preview closer covered in The Season).

I wish I could afford a couple of those! I'd love to have Fiddler to go with my framed LP autographed by Jerry Bock from when I worked with him. And I would LOVE the Via Galactica window card!
