I believe that previews started 3/6 and I was wondering if there might be any early reports. I have read this play and enjoyed it, but I am having a tough time imagining Matthew Broderick in this role. Before I spring for tickets I was hoping to hear any thoughts or observations from anyone who may have caught these early preview shows.

Seeing it in May as part of my 11 shows in 8 days NYC mega mix
i saw the premiere in Edinburgh fringe ‘18 and wasn’t a fan but then i went in expecting Cyprus Avenue 2. I wouldn’t have picked this as a slot but the bf nearly shat himself at the thought for being in smelling distance of MB. Personally I’d have picked Giant
Is The Irish Rep good? MB has performed there a few times I think?

I’ve only registered on this site coz I’m coming to NYC in May for first ever time! I go on the UK theatre forum and that’s pretty much fine.
genuinely all this whole broadway forum seems to be about someone that keeps setting up an account and everyone shouting at them! It’s crazy! People will shout at this and then someone will say I’m talking to myself! It’s madness!
anywho, I’m seeing the matinee of this on the front row and then, like, the back row of Lost Boys After!

I love the Irish Rep, they always have intriguing productions. It’s a small and intimate venue.
i too have a ticket to see this in early April but read an early preview opinion from someone who said it was outstanding and especially complimented Geraldine Hughes. I’m looking forward to it.

I really disliked this play, and Matthew Broderick is truly awful in it, with a characterization that is basically identical to Tartuffe.

I actually enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. .

Saw this afternoons matinee
9 (!) phones (text/calls) went off during the 80 mins running time, truly appalling and disrespectful in such a small venue. I assume this happens a lot as the actors didn’t flinch and carried on regardless.
saw the premiere in Edinburgh and have to say preffered it this afternoon. It almost seems quant on what it says about the trans community. Way more blood this time
audience seemed to enjoy it.
Not sure what I thought about MB………..

I saw this last year in London and I didn't like it much but what is very strange to me is that Woody Harrelson played the role that is apparently now being played by Matthew Broderick. (?!)

Saw the London production. It was fine. Some thought provoking moments and dialogues.
Some reports on Reddit saying Matthew Broderick gave his signature soulless performance, which i have fully expected. LOL
