I thought that Tammy Blanchard was very good in Gypsy. I thought her singing was a little weak(but she got through the show fine),but her acting was superb. I would love to see her in a straight play.

he doubles as the "mysterious man" as well, and enters the story as the narrator in a very funny scene at the end- i think its a deserving charactor.

I dont think the narrator and Hunter's Bobby Strong even compare. Hunter should of been nominated.

Stephanie J. Block in Boy From Oz. How did she not get nominated for a Tony?

James Barbour in Assassins.

Alec Baldwin in Twentieth Century. Heche got the reviews but he CARRIED the show.

Chandra Wilson in Caroline or Change.

Faced with these Loreleis, what man can moralize!

David Burtka's turn as Tulsa in the GYPSY revival.

And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

Carolee Carmello is also highly underated in my book. Someone get this woman a hit show.

Can't say I agree with the David Burtka comment.....

I agree with the disagree about Burtka - I thought Lambert in the '89 revival was far superior. What ever happened to him??

Matt McGrath as the Emcee in Cabaret.
I've seen all the Broadway Emcees except Alan Cumming, Michael Hall, and 3 of the understudies...and he's the one that holds my heart. He showed it didn't have to be constantly over-the-top. His performance was filled with nuances and subtlety, and he was absolutely chilling....and then would just break into that deceivingly charming smile. He was absolutely phenomenal, and it grates me to see most reviewers gloss over his performance. I sat through Brooke Shields 8 times to see that man. that's love!

MusicPos - Had you seen Idina in Rent, you would see why she was not overrated. She was amazing as Maureen and sounded flawless. I liked her better in Rent than Wicked. If you can't believe it's the same singer, perhaps it is because 8 years have passed or maybe because they are two different styles of music.

Gonna have to go with:

Laura Benanti in Nine.... while I loved the entire production, Laura's created a memorable role with like 20 minutes of stage time

Jennifer Westfeldt in Wonderful Town... ok, ok, but I thought she was adorable

Agreed, Mister Matt. Idina was remarkable in Rent. I'm always amazed when I think that she was both Maureen and Elphaba...such different characters and she absolutely nailed them and turned them into living, breathing people.
Speaking of Idina...I think so much attention is called to her voice that her skill as an actress tends to be a little ignored...I mean critically...I'm well aware of the fact that the Tonys gave her her mention.

But back to the subject...I think Marc kudisch seems a bit underrated. I can't understand why there is not more talk about his work. I think he is brilliant.

And I agree about John Dossett and Tammy Blanchard in Gypsy. As well as James Barbour...he seems underrated. He was so impressive in Assassins.

Jeffrey Carlson in Taboo. He totally and utterly became Marilyn. Absolutely brilliant. He didn't get nearly as much recognition as he deserved.

Michelle Federer in Wicked. So much more talented than the role of Nessarose calls for. She will go far.

Douglas Sills and Kerry Butler in Little Shop of Horrors. Also, the urchins in LSoH were amazing and nobody ever said much about them.
Kathy Brier in Hairspray too... She never got reviewed or anything... Nobody ever mentions her in reviews. It's like she was never in the show, but I think she was the best Tracy.
Jennifer Gambatese is starting to get noticed and I'm so proud of her. She really deserves it. Everyone who mentioned her in their 'Hairspray' reviews loved her. -Penny
