VOTE FOR THE UNDERSTUDY AWARDS (MUSICALS ONLY)
'Cuz they deserve credit, too!
Choose the nominees by Saturday, May 19, 2007, at 8:00PM
PRIVATE MESSAGE ONLY! I will ignore all posts on the thread that give me nominees.
CHOOSE ONE WINNER FOR ALL FOUR CATEGORIES, OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT COUNT!
The only eligible performers are from shows that opened before April 29, 2007. This means that members of Legally Blonde, LoveMusik, and 110 in Shade are not eligible. I decided upon this because these shows have been open for such a short time that it is unlikely the understudies have performed more than once, and thus chances of an accurate vote are weakened. The show must also be running as of May 7, 2007.
There are four categories: Best Understudy Performance for a Leading Female Role, Best Understudy Performance for a Leading Male Role, Best Performance for a Supporting Female Role, and Best Understudy Performance for a Supporting Male Role. Please choose your favorite under each category.
All you need to PM me your FOUR picks for winners!.
I’ve chosen eligible actors based on:
a)Their show is still running;
b)Their role’s consideration/importance based on Tony rulings;
c)They were listed as understudy on opening night.
If there is any understudy here who you know hasn't gone on...please tell me.
Good Luck!

I don't think some of them have even gone on in those roles yet...

If anyone can help narrow it down, I'd be open to changing it that way...
Or I may throw it out and do a different format. IE: Just sending me four people under each category, show closed/open, whatever! I'll have to see if I get any PMs tomorrow.
Not to mention Drew Sarich went on as Javert more than Robert Hunt did. (Or are you counting him as Enjolras? Same thing, pretty much...)

I went by listings from opening nights. But if I missed something, I'll throw that in (I just don't want to be adding newer understudies)...so I'll throw in Drew for Javert.

BUMP
I'll see how many votes I get by tonight, then I may scrap the idea or continue it.
I've shortened the list to those who have performered (thanks Popular for Pirate Queen help!)
If there are any more who can be taken off, please tell me.

Has there even been a Valjean understudy in the revival yet? I dont remember hearing about Alex ever being out
Fred Rose is not the Robert understudy in Company. It's actually Bradley Dean.

WickedRentHead....Victor Hawks went on the weekend after opening as Valjean with less than 24 hrs of rehearsal bc Alex was ill.
And to possibly correct the list: I believe Tyler Hanes has only gone on once as Bobby in ACL (Easter weekend) and has not covered Zach yet. Grant Turner has definitely gone on as Zach, Don, and Larry.

^ Thank you! Id been wondering about that
I would LOVE to see Jonathan B. Wright as Melchior. Has he done that yet? Not that I can really get back to NY... ;_;
Also Edith Bouvier Beale (Act II) is not a leading role, it's a featured role.
