His moves are reminiscent of a young Ben Vereen. He moves beautifully.

He moves very nice indeed...although it looks like the entire number is being re-done so it's practically a solo - not necessarily a bad thing, mind you, because it looks like he can do it. But I still think he'll be very lacking in the singing and acting department, at least in this role, it's just not his style. Part of me thinks the new staging is to distract us from this fact.

At rehearsals there are only stage managers and swings usually with dance captains.

Some people don't have the right kind voice to sing this kind of music, Usher is one of them. Stunt casting at it's worst.

Wow. He looks and sounds great Once he gets the lyrics fully learned, he'll be wonderful, I can tell Thank you for this. Sure looks as if a few doubts and fears are going to be put to rest

He looks good in the role. I think the style of dancing suits him well. I'll be interested to see/hear how he handles the more avant garde songs like the one with the puppet and all that.

So many people are judging this video as if it's a performance. It is a rehearsal. You are right WICKEDGEEK28, stage-managers, dance captains and rehearsal staff are the only ones at rehearsals. When you add someone into a show like this, they just train that one person. He/she is supposed to know where to go and the rest of the cast will follow what has always been done.

Messing up on the lyric, that is no biggie, to me it looks more like the rehearsal was more of what is called a "marking" rehearsal , where you just go through the moves to mark them where they are at, not give a full performance, so that missed lyric was more like he was concentrating on his dance moves at the time. And yes, he does remind me of a young Ben V.

I am sure this going to be great once it is all complete.

Thanks for sharing. He moves effortlessly which is a plus. However, his round baby face and the youthful tone of his singing voice belie the maturity and authority that the part dictates IMO. He also is somewhat short forcing a few of female dancers to struggle with the underarm turns shown in the video. I'm sure he'll compensate for any shortcomings from my vantage point and wow 'em. I really shouldn't write this but for some reason his presence makes the rehearsal look like the ramping up of a high school production. Maybe I've just become an old fart.

yeah he def. seemed to know what he was doing and also seemed to fit in very well with the show. Hopefully Broadway world or broadway.com will have a video when he opens up.
