There is really nothing coming out this season that I want to see, other than "Dracula" (saw, was good and entertaining), "Brooklyn", and "Sweet Charity". I am undecided with Little Women because the story seems bleh, but I love Sutton Foster. All Shook Up looks like a Bye, Bye, Birdie that is trying too hard to be the next Mamma Mia!, so that doesn't sound too great. Maybe I am missing some or, could anyone help, please
?

Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:21pmYay for Spamalot! Also, I have to agree about Little Women, but I am a fan of Sutton Foster, so I will definitely buy the cast recording and maybe even see the show.

How can you say it's going to be an uninteresting season?
12 Angry Men
'Night Mother
Spamalot
Little Women
Brooklyn
Laugh Whore
Gem of the Ocean
Dame Edna
Pacific Overtures
Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays
La Cage Aux Folles
Whoopi Goldberg on Broadway
The Pillowman
The Pajama Game
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf?
HITCHCOCK Blonde
A Streetcar Named Desire
American Buffalo
Glengary Glen Ross
A Light At The Piazza
and......
Marc Kudisch in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
I can't remember being this excited about a Broadway season in a LONG time.

Oh yeah! I forgot about Spamalot, that looks really funny! When does that come out, does anyone know if Tim C.(sorry, don't want to spell his last name wrong, I'm blonde get over it) is still signed on for it!
Oh, and that Jerry Springer: The Opera sounds horrible.

Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:27pmI agree with Matt. I am trying to schedule the right times to be in New York to catch as much of the season as possible.

Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:27pmi wonder if Little Women is the same dreadful show I saw two years ago produced by NYCOpera. It was dull, dull dull.

My mom knew someone at work who saw a Little Woman show - I'm guessing it was the one at the Opera. Anyways, the co-worker said it was boring.
Tim Curry.
Spamalot is coming to Broadway with previews beginning Feb. 7, 2005 and opening March 10, 2005...according to Playbill.com.

Wait - you forgot TWO.
1. If I'd Saved, I Wouldn't Be Here: Martin Short on Broadway
and I'm not going to tell you the other because I just can't believe you don't know what it is...

Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:34pmI have a friend who starts as a freshman at Duke this year, and I'm charging him with seeing Little Women so I can get an opinion. I'll make sure to mention it.

Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:34pmMillie--Little Women was like root canal without the novacaine. Your mom's friend was at the same show i was! I pray this is completely different.

LOL, I think I was definately missing a few. But even as I read the long list, none of them sparked some interest (other than the ones I have listed previously), I read 12 Angry Men and hated it, and I know some of you will hate me for saying this, but I don't want to pay $100 to see a play, I would rather spend it for a lavish night of pure Broadway musical fun!, btw I have a theatre right by my house and I always go to see plays there so that might also be the reason. But I still hold to my ground that this season uninterests me, because last season held very few musicals, but look what came out, Avenue Q, Wicked, Caroline or Change, Asassins, and Boy From Oz.
PS: Thanks Millie for the info on Spamalot!

Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:46pmThe plays are very exciting in the 2004-2005 season. I can't wait to see "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", 'The Glass Menagerie", "Streetcar", "The Foreigner" and "12 Angry Men".
re: Uninteresting Season, 2004-2005#16
Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:47pmWell, this is definately a season filled with incredible plays and I for one would rather spend my $40 (The most I would EVER spend on a theatre ticket) to see a play like VIRGINIA WOOLF or STREETCAR than something like WICKED or BFO.

re: Uninteresting Season, 2004-2005#19
Posted: 8/23/04 at 1:50pmTop price for plays on Broadway is $85, however discounts are always steep and plentiful and always available (last season, I saw "Frozen," "I Am My Own Wife" "Match" and "Golda's Balcony" for $45 each; $55 tickets to "Jumpers" and "Retreat From Moscow" were also widely available).
