I had originally bought tickets via the TodayTix app for Finding Neverland. Matthew Morrison was out sick so I was able to exchange the tickets at the box office for a future date. However when at the box office, the attendant claimed the only seats he could accommodate me with were last row of the rear mezz (the new tickets were cheaper and much further back than the seats I had for the original performance. However, when I got home I noticed that there were still plenty of seats at the same price range and area where my original seats were before. Do you think I can go back to the box office and ask them to upgrade my seats (and pay the minimal difference to get the original seat location)? I do not have any proof of the price I paid except from the todaytix confirmation but I feel that they would not honor that since it wasn't through them. any advice would be helpful. thanks
You can certainly try. Will they do it? No idea, probably depends on the box office person and their mood... I would try to explain the situation and ask kindly to be upgraded to a better seat in exchange for paying the difference. I would also try to do that without "insulting" your previous BO person in any way, and rather say something like "I think he/she must have have accidentally overlooked something" and how much you would appreciate their help. Also, have your phone handy to possibly tell them the row/seats that you would like. I found that it does wonders if you know exactly what seats are available (for buying tickets at the BO, I never tried to exchange before).
Not all seats at all price levels are released to TodayTix. That may have been all they had.
Starcatcher is right: they likely could only exchange for another qualified Todays Tix seat.

TodayTix was able to credit me the price differential even though it was not their issue. they were very helpful and easy to work with.
I went to the box office and asked if I could upgrade the tickets and pay the differential in price but they said it was not their policy to do so. I figured it was a little strange that they wouldn't want the extra money.
I've had that happen with concerts before (where the wish to upgrade arose due weird pre-sales where the best tickets didn't go on sale during right away), where the venues flat-out denied the request, even though they would make more money. I never understood that logic...
