My music teacher from high school who never bought a cast recording in his life bought the recording for Urinetown and is crazy obsessed with it :0)
I love it to. It's one of the smartest musicals ever written :0)

The performances were top-notch (with the exception of John Cullum, who was pretty off that night). I talked my parents into seeing the tour and they loved it as much as I did.

But you have to forgive John.
He's still great.

I bought the CD a couple months ago on a whim, simply because I had heard great things about the show and needed to enlarge my music collection. When I listened to it, my first reaction was disappointment--it sounded to me like a poor-man's "Threepenny Opera" and I really didn't like it.
However...I recently put the CD on again and now I'm obsessed. I can't stop listening to it! It's really quite brilliant. It's funny how sometimes you can dislike a show at first and then later decide that you love it.

My sister bought the cd but I don't know i really did not get hooked to it. I like some of the songs, but I remember getting a headache while listening to it...(Which I also get during Ave Q sometimes, even though I like it. Must be the muppet voices.) (And if you don't think some of the voices sound like muppets, in Urinetown, dont yell at me!)
Maybe I would have to see it....
