I love Ushers.

Sometimes you got the damn unsociable ones who seem aggitated your bothering them, but I happen to know a pair of ushers that are so so so awesome.

...yeah...

So...world...go talk about ushers. I'm gonna get a sandwhich.

Yeah - I was just about to say 'I hope you mean Ushers, not Usher'.

My cousin and aunt are both usherettes, my aunt has for 15. They're fun, if I'm at a show I can discuss the ins and outs of the performance at the door to the auditorium with them.

Good for you! Do you want a cookie or something? You'd be surprised at how many people cannot figure out where their seats are located, even AFTER having been told where to go!!! Plus, ushers don't just seat people. They manage the crowds, enforce theatre policies, enforce the production's policies, etc. It's a thankless job, for sure.

I want to thank the HOT usher at the Cort Theatre who sat me for "Little Dog Laughed." He was sweet and funny and hot. He was a latino male who wore a vest and some well proportioned pants. I love Ushers, even when they are haughty or rude-they add an extra element to the evening and a good story to tell.

I feel for them, even when they are complete arses. The last time I went to Broadway was to see CHICAGO....do you know how many times they had to say "no pictures"?? I lost count. Talk about a thankless--but increasingly important--job.

As a longtime volunteer usher for many Off-Broadway and Broadway productions, I am consistently amazed by the horrible way people treat ushers. Usually, a third of the people are very nice, a third of the people bypass and ignore you, and the other third yell.

At the same time though, you meet a lot of ushers who feel they have some sense of entitlement because they've been working somewhere for a long time or because they have a higher rank on paper than the other places they work. This always annoys me as well.

I agree, ushers, stage managers, light boar operators, mucisians, they don't get enough respect.

I guess from stage managing a couple shows I've realized just how important everyone is in the crew, not just the actors.

There are, however, some ushers that are unnecesarily rude. I understand that they are just doing their job but some tend to be very patronizing.

One of the best ushers is one at the Broadhurst. I think he was just hired in January. He's tall, gangly, and has long hair. I was doing SRO and all through the first act he was trying to find seats for all of us standing. It was so nice! He led us to seats midway through the first Act. I wanted to thank him after the show, but didn't get a chance.

Musicians spend a lot of time and money training, they're not just born with a trumpet or clarinet in their hands. I hate it when they don't have the names of the musicians in the program. I'd actually like to perhaps even see a little half page of the playbill or something dedicated to the band, little pictures and/or biogs or something.
