It doesn't really matter if her songs are popular or not, Amerie is quite a talented young lady. And VERY pretty.
And what did they do to Billy's costume? Ghetto-fy it for Usher? This makes me kind of ill. This whole thing.

I just BET after that party. Barry and Fran have their eye on Amerie for the show. Sadly Aaliyah would've been a perfect Velma. Sigh. She would've been amazing in that role.
Anyway best part of those pics are.. Michelle Robinson (Liz) looking FIERCE. And Matt Risch also from the ensemble, what a beautiful guy.

I don't agree, Aaliyah as Velma? no.

it's like shoshana bean in wicked
they are amazingly talented and you're not dissapointed seeing them in the role. they just don't fit the type..but eh
shoshana has done things with those songs no one has done since

75% of the time, I HATE stunt casting!
I think that Usher is too young for Billy. He'd be GREAT for seaweed.
Aaliyah would NOT have made a good Velma. I love Aaliyah, but she isn't what I picture Velma to be like.
Haylie Duff as Amber is terrible. She can't act, but I heard that her performance was okay.

Ummm. Aaliyah was extensively trained in singing, dancing, AND acting.
She was an amazing dancer, and her records don't show what a good singer she was. Thankfully we can see her fabulous acting in ROMEO MUST DIE. She had 8 movie deals in the works at the time of her death, so she was going very far with acting.
ALSO. She almost was the original Aida, but Heather Headley beat her out for the role. They thought Heather had the better look for the role. Though Aaliyah came very close to the role.
