Hi,
I was just wondering what are the cheapest priced tickets for the Tony Awards usually? I just would like to go to the Tony's for once. What/where have the cheaper seats been. I know Tony tickets can be very expensive.
They don't do SRO do they?
Thanks for the help and PLEASE only SERIOUS Responses no B.S.

I'm already focused on one annoyiing troll/sock tonight, so I'll answer you - the cheapest I remember is $150 for the very back of the orchestra.
NO, they don't have SRO. And no student rush, neither.
I would actually rather be on my couch at home comfy then have to pay over 200 bucks for a seat in the 4th balcony.

Likewise.
Where you're in God's country with Tommy Tune's manager's fourth cousin.

Plus, seeing presenters and performers from that high up has gotta be like trying to pick out Cheyenne Jackson from the top of an Empire State Building.
No, curled up on my couch with a bag of my boy Orville Redenbacher's and a Snuggie is how I like to watch beloved performers get passed up for awards they deserved and Hollywood B-listers inexplicably present "Best Actor in a Musical".
I went once, and I loved it. I think I paid $250 for the first mezz. It was the year of The Producers. I rented a tux, my wife bought a gown, and we hired a limo. It was fun to have people checking us out when we entered, trying to figure out if we were VIPs. Spent a lot of time looking down into the lobby picking out the celebs. Not something we would do every year, but it was an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. Tix usually go on sale the day the noms are announced.
I have some vague recollection that last year they were $200 and $300.
1968 - Shubert Theater - $ 5 for the balcony
I went in 2006 and sat in the 1st Mezz. I am almost sure my ticket was $200. It was a Birthday gift. Had a blast and I would do it again even if I sat higher up. One of the best parts was walking out with all of the stars.
Yes Roxy; We know, you're old.
Not making a statement about my age just thought the price of $ 5 was interesting
Carry on
Being a seatfiller is free, but from what I hear it's pretty competitive.
How does one get to be a seat filler? at this point, I'll be watching it on tv.
I paid $200 to sit in the top balcony the year that JERESY BOYS won. It was great fun, I got a chance to wear that tux that's been hanging in my closet, and, thanks to the giant screen, I could hear and see everything.

Ask Constantine, Lea. Maybe he can help.
So you paid $200 to watch it on TV?
I know tickets are limited, but where can one purchase them?
Thanks!

Sites such as Ticketmaster? Or a "third party"?

I seem to remember them being on ticketmaster.
Here's a link to the ticket info page at the Tonys website. If you go there now, you'll get a 'check back later' kind of message. I would advise trying this link the day the noms are announced.

I think they go onsale the day of the nomination announcements.
hushpuppy, that was the year I was there. I didn't know the top balcony was the same price as lower mezz. Ouch.
I went last year and bought my tickets through the TONY AWARDS wesbsite. We were in the front row of the balcony- I think the tix were around $180, but I believe that there were cheaper seats higher up. Radio City's balcony is way further back than any of the broadway houses....so you are VERY far away. I highly recommend that if you love theater and you have the chance to go, that you treat yourself at least once. You do end up watching the monitors, but it is quite special to be there, in person. Plus, when you leave, you can walk down 50th street with winnser right next to you....talk about being star struck!

Don't bother Lea, ROA will NOT be performing...
Go home and watch American Idol
