I don't think she was a lesbian, either. First, I thought she was, with that P.E. being her major thing.

In the play, in the last scene she says something like, "when I first moved in here, I wanted marriage more than anything, but the longer I waited; the less it mattered"

So, i'm sure she just had a "sugar daddy" situation

Annalise, if I remember correctly, at least to me, played her sort of "butch." I mean, not "butch" in such an extreme sense, but just the way she stood when she was older and the way she carried herself. But again, I think that can be part of differing her character from Mary who is the girly girl, and the super conservative.

it can really go either way, depending on the producers' vision of the character.

Annette O'Toole and Shelley Hack were amazing as Kathy and Mary. Joanne is definately my least favorite of the three.

They're in the studio recording as we speak.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I'm sorry, but I won't be purchasing this for the three songs I enjoyed.

Any chance the show will appear again off-Broadway at some point for a longer, commercial run?

Oh,

Here's the thing.

I'm THRILLED that "Vanities" went the way it did.

I SAW this show.

I thought it was TERRIFIC,

I'm very excited that they are recording a cast album.

I hope I'm first in line to buy the original cast album.

ClumsyDude15, there are no plans for a return engagement of any kind in New York in the near future. A commercial Off-Broadway run isn't really financially feasible, which is why a limited engagement at a subscription-based non-profit like Second Stage was perfect.

The producers are planning a small tour for the 2010-2011 season, during which I think the creative team plans on making further revisions to the material.

When the show is eventually licensed for regional and amateur productions, you'll be seeing it all over the place.

Well,

Kurt Deutch is planning a Cast Recording of "Vanities,'
which makes sense.

Good on you, KURT.

I'll buy one.

I really don't think there were any songs worth hearing again. (or even once).

But it's good that as many shows as possible be recorded, for historical documentation, to hear certain performers. etc.

I don't really think shows are recorded for historical documentarians - if htat were the case we'd have albums of Cry Baby and Happiness, not to mention the elusive CD's of Guys and Dolls and Good Vibrations that people on here always clamor for.
I can't wait to finally hear it, so they must think there's a market for it, or at least that the show was worth preserving to sell on the tour or whatever.

Kimbo: I'm sure that historical documentation is not the reason new shows are recorded, but that's what all recordings contribute to. And I'm glad of it.
