Yeah, I’m gonna need that Persona mashup to come to New York.
I assume that Manville is being cast in the role of the Marquise de Mertreuil in "Les Liaisons Dangereuses". A wonderful actor but a 70 year old Marquise doesn't make much sense in terms of the roles full possibilities of steely strategy and erotic heat.
I found Manville incredibly erotic when I saw her in Oedipus.

Nothing really stands out to me except that one week run of Catarina and the Beauty of Killing Fascists. I don’t realize War Horse lost best play at the Olivier’s. I’m interested in seeing The Other Place by Alexander Zeldin at The Shed because I loved his play Love that I saw at the armory a few years ago.
I’d see Sandra Oh, perhaps as Arsinoe, in The Misanthrope. She had a delicious stage presence as The Duchess of Krakenthorp on the vast stage of The Met. But for the Liaisons, that feels like a Box Office decision, nothing surprising there but also nothing to get excited about… even if the Marquise’s deeply privileged aristocratic battle in which she (and Valmont) uses her social inferiors as pawns is being touted as a struggle against the Patriarchy.

That's an interesting point of view. The idea of seeing Sandra Oh in The Misanthrope, particularly as Arsinoé, would indeed be very appealing given her stage presence. However, for Les Liaisons Dangereuses, the choice seems more strategic than artistic, resulting in a contemporary interpretation that, while relevant, isn't necessarily very daring.
