George Hearn leaves on April 17th, along with Carole Shelley and Jennifer Laura Thompson, I think.

That's awesome news! Can't wait to see him in it.

They've already cast a new Wizard for late April, but we still don't know who's taking over as Elphaba and Fieryo in early January?

now dont get me wrong. im a fan of wicked however, i must ask why are all these amazing theatrical legands doing this part? its one of the most underdevelloped characters and is just so... i don't know. blah.

but yay for vereen, love him to death and back again.

What great news! I am such a fan of Ben! Anyone remember him on "Zoobilly Zoo" on the Disney Channel back in the day? Ha random yes--I know. That was a while ago.

Zoobilee Zoo was the best show ever! i watched it every morning.... the characters were kinda creepy looking in their makeup and costume... but i loved it... and i can still hear the theme song in my head... haha... you brought back a whole boat load of memories!!

I agree - the part of the Wizard is so awfully terribly and way underwritten - plus he has the two worst songs in the entire show. I think it's hard to be GOOD in this role, there's nothing to work with. I didn't see GH, but JG was so blah.

omg!! i loved zoobile zoo!!! i saw ben vereen in christmas carol a few years ago and he was amazing - i'd love to see him play the wizard - just to see him on stage again

Zoobilee Zoo was great!! It was always so confusing why there were only 6 people in the town. But when the theatre guy had a show there was an audience.

Ben Vereen would be GREAT as the Wizard. He's wonderful. I missed him in Fosse, he joined the show two weeks after I went. I'm still bitter!!
