Very short NYC trip... what should I see?!
Very short NYC trip... what should I see?!#1

I'm going to New York for just 3 days in early March, mostly to visit my sister, get my headshots re-done, and take a couple lessons with my old (and best ever) voice teacher.
BUT I must see some shows while I'm there. I'm thinking I'll be able to see 3. I guess could catch a Wed. matinee as well, but that would REALLY be pushing it. I will be there Wed. March 7 thru Fri. March 9 (and leave early on Sat. the 10th.)
I definitely want to see Spring Awakening, that's at the top of my list. I'm also considering Les Miserables because Lea Salonga will have just gone into the show, but I have seen that show already (more times than I care to admit.)
What else should I think about seeing?
FYYI, last time I was in NYC I saw Piazza and the Pillow Man... loved them both. (And went to NYU from 2000-04, and saw almost every major Bway show during that time.)

Company and Beauty and the Beast (It's closing soon and it's worth seeing for John Tartaglia!)

Of what is open right now, my Top 3 would be: Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens and Company.
Pirate Queen will have just opened in previews if you want to take a chance on something.
Curtains will also be in previews....just the cast itself makes that show a "can't miss".

I really love Company, I will probably try to see that. Gosh I'm going to have a hard time choosing... Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens, Les Miserables....
Nay to Beauty and the Beast, I saw it once in New York (with the lovely Sarah Uriarte) and once on tour (with Fred Inkley and Kim Huber)... and I worked with Sarah Litzsinger. I'm just BatB'd out. :)

Go to Beauty and the Beast if you want to waste your money, (Tartaglia is not that good.) I say SPRING AWAKENING for something new and THE APPLE TREE for something differet.
I would say COMPANY but I really didn't like it that much. It was enjoyable, but I would never see it (this way) again. The best part of the show is "Being Alive"

anyone who's seen ANY of my posts recently will know what I'm about to say, but I dont care because I love it and want to promote it, so SPRING AWAKENING
seriously, its one of the most incredible theater experiences I've had so far. Especially if you already have an interest in it, which you seem to, you will NOT regret seeing it.
and the cast is WAY too talented and sweet for their own good.

definitely a good choice with spring awakening, that is a must-see in my opinion.
i don't see the big fuss with grey gardens, but that is just my opinion. but if you loved piazza and pillowman.. as i did as well.. maybe consider seeing company, or apple tree. both which are supposed to be a good show.
hope your trip goes well! enjoy! =)

Posted: 1/29/07 at 8:44pmIf you didnt see Drowsy Chaperone, that's really funny and short. I also think Company would be good, and Jersey Boys (if you can get tickets). Also, I have heard Grey Garden is good too.
