I assumed that. Considering the fact that other the NYC the two locations are the areas of both Disneyworld and Disneyland where they have the shops. It would almost seem logical that you can get Disney park gear at the parks.
Eris, I am not even going to tell you the name that people use to insult the studio/business end of Disney. I am sure you already know it.

Posted: 6/7/08 at 3:46amI, in the spirit of full disclosure, will tell you the studio is called both Moushwitz or Duckau.

Posted: 6/7/08 at 3:53amYes. But, Moushwitz is the more popular one.

My best friend works at the Disney Store in the Walden Galleria Mall in Buffalo Ny and she as well is out of a job. I in no way am pleased that my friend is out of a job or you for that matter. Good Luck with the job hunt.

"Gurl, please! Disney has seven theme parks, five resorts, a downtown shopping area, and a sports complex all within 15 minutes' driving distance in Orlando."
Disney World is made up of four theme parks, not seven. There are also well more than 5 resorts on their property.
Ha, that counting confused me too...

I am sorry that the Virgin Megastore will be closing. I found it to be a glitzy and enjoyable store to be in. When sometimes feeling depressed, I have always loved going to a record store, usually buying one or two CD's, and feeling the better for it. At the beginning, I used to go to Tower Records near Lincoln Center because it had such a great stock of classical music CD's. Then, when Gimbles at 86th and Lexington closed MANY years ago, and the store turned into luxury condos, the wonderful HMV store opened there. Both the classical music section and the Broadway CD section were staffed with very knowledgeable people. Currently it is a Best Buy store, which I have never even been into.
Now I buy virtually all of my classical and Broadway CD's on Amazon.com. I browse for awhile, read listener's reviews, and then make my selection. I have used other sites, but find that Amazon has the greatest selection and the lowest prices for CD's of all kinds. I still get a "high" from shopping for music, even if it is on the internet.

Wrong. There's six (I included DisneyQuest as a theme park, but apparently Disney doesn't). Magic Kingdom. Disney Studios. EPCOT. Animal Kingdom. Blizzard Beach. Typhoon Lagoon.

No, they're technically theme parks. :)
And yes, DisneyQuest is part of Downtown Disney, but so is the movie theatre. And Cirque du Soliel. And Pleasure Island. And McDonald's. But all those locations are still what they are - just located at Downtown Disney.
Disney once advertised DisneyQuest as "an indoor theme park." I think they stopped advertising it as such, but perhaps they still do.

I'm so sad! I love going to NYC to get great Broadway CDs without having to order them online, and I loved perusing Virgin for great finds.

It's a scary time to be out of a job so you can understand why I reacted the way I did what I thought was a genuine outburst of pleasure.

Thank you. I have a second interview on Monday for an inside sales position. It'd be a lot more money but less time to go to NYC and see shows.

Posted: 6/7/08 at 2:50pmI remember Disney wanted to open a hotel in Times Square....maybe the front could be covered in pixie dust by a robot of Tinker Bell every fifteen.

I am SO sad to see Virgin go! I never went there for CDs, it is there massive DVD collection that always drew me in! Not too many stores of the variety that Virgin did and you could usually find a lot of them for $10!
It was also just a great place to walk around in when I had an hour or so to spare before a show...heck it's the only store in Times Square I ever go in!

Disney quest is not a theme park. It is an indoor amusement park. And Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are water parks not theme parks.
I don't think that space that Virgin is in is big enough for a hotel. I wouldn't be shocked to see that space become something like a major restaurant. I remember hearing (I think it was a joke) of turning it into an IHOP.

Oh man... Virgin has been iconic in Time Square for quite sometime. I loved going in there. Damn you escalating rent! If Gray's Papaya were to shut down, that would be the end all.
... bummer.

After reading the last two comments I have to say something.
Water parks AREN'T amusement parks. If they were then they would be called amusement parks and not water parks. Lol :)

Posted: 6/8/08 at 12:04pmThis is a huge bummer. The Virgin Megastore was one of my favourite shops whenever I visited NYC. Curses, why didn't I buy the Company OBCR for $8 when I had the chance?!

Posted: 6/8/08 at 3:26pmIt's true, as soon as it happened the stores got annoying. The merchandise almost never changes, at there are no longer any catalogues available.
