"Vornado bought the 180,000 square foot retail component of the Bertelsmann building, which houses the Times Square store, in 2006, and will lease the space to Century 21, according to various reports."
I believe they will lease the space to Forever 21.
I know it's hard to tell the difference between a real estate agency and a store that sells slut clothes to teeny boppers, but it's important to get it right.
SF, too.

Century 21 is also a clothing store in NY. not really that surpised that this is happening here. They already closed all the ones in the U.K. so it makes sense to close the ones here as well.

I know Century 21 is a department store. I work downtown and pass it every day.
But it's Forever 21 that is going into the old Virgin Records space.

That still blows my mind. There is a Forever 21 on 34th Street. What is the appeal of having that in Times Square going to be?
Yeap, we have had a lot of Virgin stores close in the UK too.
That really sucks. The Times Square Virgin store is my "neighborhood" music store and now this one's going, too. Barnes & Noble is way too overpriced, Circuit City is closing and all the Mom & Pop stores are going out of business as well. I'm going to be forced soon to get everything on Amazon. I'm really hating this...
This blows.
There's always Borders (...for now, from what some people speculate) and Best Buy.
Best Buy usually has the best deals, but it's cast recording collection is limited. Borders, however, has a free rewards membership with great coupon deals for their CDs, DVDs and books every now and then.
This is kind of a confusing article...
It says in the title that the Union Square location is closing in may, then goes on to talk about how its the Times Square location closing in April and that the Union Square will be the only Virgin store in NY?
Regardless this kinda sucks! This was one of the places i always made sure i visited when i went to NYC!! I loved it there! Such a huge assortment!
Here is another article this might be a bit more clear.

I don't know if this is true, but I heard from a reliable resource that the Disney Store is moving it's location from 5th avenue into the old Virgin Megastore location in Times Square. It makes sense that Disney would want to be in the center of the hub-bub of NYC... Forever 21?? I don't know about that, but im not saying my story is valid, since it's only hear say, but it makes way more sense
I'd like to feel sorry but their prices were always too high. I felt you were paying for the convenience of it being in Times Square and nothing else. Tower Records was the one and only store for me, especially during their Tony Awards sale. I have great memories of Saturday afternoon trips to the Lincoln Center store.
Virgin was always too high priced and too full of itself. And Branson makes more money than God as it is so no big loss here, I'll buy elsewhere.

When Virgin announced the Time Square closing a few months ago, that was the general speculation. However, it's a done deal- Forever 21 is taking over.
