re: Virginia Theatre

Too small for Peter Pan?

I guess it is too late, anyways...Peter Pan has already booked more tour dates for 2006.

re: Virginia Theatre

CATS, there was not any mention of those photoshop pics...we were seriously discussing shows that could feel the soon-to-be empty theatre. Now that you brought it up, sure there are going to be those pics.

re: Virginia Theatre

I was wondering what was going to go in. My friend is happy the show closed (she isnt into broadway and listens to rap) so i am not trusting her word much but I dont think I would love the show either. SO really it doenst matter to me. I want a good show! Ahh I went to that theater when i saw the Little Shop of Horrors revival in 2003. Bring that back. I love it.

re: Virginia Theatre

I think "Princesses" might fit well, as well as "The Pajama Game" Revival. I have a feeling, "The Wiz" won't be happening for a few more seasons.

re: Virginia Theatre

Since Sweet Charity is doing good business and since there's hope for some Tony wins, maybe The Color Purple will go in the Virginia instead of the Al Hirschfeld.

Otherwise... maybe Princesses.

re: Virginia Theatre

Isn't Peter Pan going to go to MSGarden? I remember reading that?!?
Grace: I just gave a quarter to a homeless man. I think it was Johnny Depp.

re: Virginia Theatre

Actually, how long are they planning on leaving the Virginia empty? Isn't Girl Group Time Travelers (or something along those lines) supposed to start previews by fall?

re: Virginia Theatre

The current Jujamcyn theatres are:

The Al Hirschfeld Theatre
The St. James Theatre
The Eugene O'Neill Theatre
The Walter Kerr Theatre
The Virginia Theatre

Both the THE PAJAMA GAME and THE WEDDING SINGER are slated for Jujamcyn theatres. Depending on how SWEET CHARITY does at the TONYs could affect how long the Hirschfeld will be booked. THE PRODUCERS isn't going anywhere, so the St. James will still be booked. The Eugene O'Neill has pretty much been booked for SWEENEY TODD. The Walter Kerr will house DOUBT for a year or two, so that's out. And the Virginia will be open soon.

So, as of now. THE PAJAMA GAME and THE WEDDING SINGER have to choose between the Virginia. Unless SWEET CHARITY closes shortly after the TONYs.

re: Virginia Theatre

That doesn't even look like it could be real. It is clearly PhotoShopped.

I was thinking that The Color Purple could move in, but I don't know how large the production is, so I don't know if it would even fit.

re: Virginia Theatre

*crosses fingers* Please The Color Purple!!! Please, please, pleaseeeeeeeeeee!!

re: Virginia Theatre

I want THE COLOR PURPLE on Broadway ASAP. I really don't care what theatre it's in. The Virginia would be fine.

re: Virginia Theatre

Nice Photoshop crop. But no matter what you Photoshop, Brooklyn is still next to close.

re: Virginia Theatre

i would just like the color purple to get somewhere... but it won't be until the fall to give lachanze and co. time to rehearse after dessa rose finishes and to make sure she won't run into the same health problems. otherwise the pajama game would be good there.

re: Virginia Theatre

Health problems? What's wrong with LaChanze???
#20

re: Virginia Theatre

LaChanze was out of DESSA ROSE for the better part of a month due to undisclosed health problems.
#21

re: Virginia Theatre

Oh... I hope it's not extremely serious, like, life-threatening or anything.
#22

re: Virginia Theatre

it's not, she's back in dessa now, but producers (and lachanze herself) will want to make sure she's good to go before they open.

re: Virginia Theatre

She recorded the cast album May 2 and is back in the show. She performed at Norm Lewis' concert. I would assume that she is back in better health now.

re: Virginia Theatre
