I would like to do a little vote. I am going to NYC in mid-May. I have tickets to Wicked, Brooklyn, and Avenue Q. However, I am looking to see one more (possibly two). I am not interested in Spamalot or Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as I am seeing them when I return to NYC in July. Here are the options. Please rank them. And if you want to add another one and be especially helpful, please do it on the side and not part of the rank. All Shook Up, Dessa Rose, Forbidden Broadway: SVU, Little Women, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Thanks. Appreciate it!
1. spelling bee 2. little women 3. forbidden broadway 4. all shook up (personally I would skip this one)
i did not rank dessa rose because i have not seen it yet so I cannot comment on the show. I loved the 1,2 ad 3 and as I said above I would skip all shook up. But that is just my opinion
"Judy Garland, Jimmy Dean, You tragedy Queen" ~ Taboo
"Watching a frat boy realize just what he put his d!ck in...ex's getting std's...schadenfruede" ~ Ave Q
"when dangers near, exploit their fear" ~ Reefer Madness the Musical
1) Spelling Bee 2) *If youre not considering The Light In The Piazza*, Little Women 3)All Shook Up 4) How bout Hairspray? Its a great, great, GREAT show. If this is a choice, it flies to the top of my list. Its an amazing theatrical experience.
But since #1 ends May 29 and #2 is likely to be around for a while, I'd go with #1. The performances in DESSA ROSE by the entire ensemble, in particular LaChanze and Rachel York, are not to be missed.
sassypanz you're obviously not informed on what's playing. AIDA has been closed for awhile now.
i would say go see LA CAGE aux FOLLES. good score and book! the CD of Forbidden Broadway:SVU is hilarious so i'm guessing the show would be as well. i've gotta try to get to see that next time i'm in town
If you are really not considering Piazza I would see Spelling Bee. Then Little Women, followed by All Shook Up.

'He really wasn't good as Fieyro. Is it just me or does he sort of come across as a pimp? Just...the hand motions I've seen him do and the attitude..not that Taye is a pimp.' - SallyBrown on Taye Diggs as Fiyero
Personally, I think All Shook UP looks awesome, just the sets and whatnot. And maybe go see Piazza since it's on a limited engagement and probably wont be there in July when you go.
1. Forbidden Broadway: SVU 2. Little Women 3. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee 4. Dessa Rose 5. All Shook Up
"There are times when were dirt broke, and hungry and freezing and I ask myself why the hell am I still living here?...And then they call!" ~ Mark Cohen RENT movie
If you love theater see Forbidden Broadway SVU, see it last. You will get more jokes. 1. FB SVU- My favorite show of all time. (ever) 2. Dessa Rose 3. Light In The Piazza for the performers (the music and story is dull but Victoria, Matt and Kelli make it a must see)
