Posted: 6/17/06 at 11:34pmThe line was literally two and a half hours long when I was there. We passed, needless to say.

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is indeed a 10 minute show, and very appropriate for a 7 year old. It combines live action people with puppetry and utilizes special effects such as water, lighting, and black lighting. It's cute, enjoyable for kids and adults.
However, if the line is too long hop on over to "Playhouse Dsiney. live on stage" for a cute show geared for younger ones as well with less of a wait.

Is this the show where Aerial swims with a rod thru her hips?

Posted: 6/18/06 at 3:52amVoyage of the Little Mermaid is a great attraction. It's 17 minutes long and great for little kids, though there is a scene with Ursula that very small children may find scary. It's also a "fastpass" attraction, so if you're going soon and the line is long, you can beat the wait by using your park ticket for a fastpass. Disney World has a lot of great shows. There is a great Beauty and the Beast one, as well as Playhouse Disney, and Fantasmic, which is a must see. And all of these are only at MGM. I could go on, as I obviously have a Disney related problem, but I'll stop myself now. Have fun!

Posted: 6/18/06 at 4:00am<----Disney Freak Here. I must say that The Voyage of the Little Mermaid at MGM is probably one of the worst shows that any of the Disney theme parks offer. I still would say go see the show because it's The Little Mermaid which is classic and they do pull off some pretty neat little effects with black lights and puppets, but it's the kiddies that will enjoy the show the most.

Posted: 6/18/06 at 12:25pmI saw it a few years ago and it was disapointing for me as an adult. I saw it when I was a child and loved it. I think that it will be great for kids, kind of boring for adults.

No, SMiller, the show with Ariel on a skewer is Under The Sea, at Tokyo Disney Sea in the Mermaid Lagoon section of the park.
The show is incredible and gorgeous, leaps and bounds above the stale show at the Studios in Florida. The show in Tokyo is in the round and Ariel and the supporting characters "swim" around the theatre above your head. The characters have been reimagined as Taymor-esque puppets, and Ursula is worth the price of admission alone. She is a giant automated talking head that comes out of a wall to sing "Poor Unfortunate Souls".
Their version there tells a bit of a different story than the movie, ending with Ariel deciding to stay "Under The Sea" instead of getting her legs. . .

Posted: 6/20/06 at 7:10ami think that would be kinda cool for the stage show coming to broadway. they did say that it's not going to actually take place under water. maybe they'll do summink similar to the one in florida. who knows?

Posted: 6/20/06 at 8:03amYes, I agree that "Voyage of the Little Mermaid" at Disney-MGM Studios was great. I was unsure if it was still playing since I haven't returned since '98. They also had a great show at Animal Kingdom with "The Lion King".

Posted: 6/20/06 at 8:11amWe were there in April and we saw both times we went to MGM. We had a child with autism with us, so we got a general fastpass that was good on every attraction. I thought it was cute. There are a lot of laser type lights and special effects to make you feel as you are under the water. There are bubbles and water sprays. Ii thought it was really cute. The HUGE Ursula thing is spooky. The little guy we were with LOVED it. He had to see it again when we saw the theatre later in the week.

Posted: 6/20/06 at 8:13amI havent been to see it since '91/'92. i hope it is still running out in MGM in the next few years to see it again (hee hee). do you think they'll use some of the film's footage for the broadway adaptation? just a thought...i'm still holding out for Cheyenne Jackson to be broadway's Prince Eric.
