How can one determine what is "definitely one of Frank Wildhorn's best scores"? and what is his worst?
EDITED TO CORRECT SPELLING OF WILDHORN'S NAME: we get mail addressed to "Frank Wilde" delivered to this address so often that he's always on my mind. I checked in the phone book and there is no one named "Frank Wilde" in this area.

Let me clarify that for you, Dollypop:
IN MY OPINION, "Waiting for the Moon" is Frank's best score to date.
Sorry for that mass confusion.

Interesting article by Peter Filichia in Sunday's Star-Ledger.

Premiers are always special. Last night was no exception. Frank & Jack had lots of support from their Bd'w friends and the audience seemed very pleased overall with the show.
It was refreshing and different from his other works. I am putting together an article with a review/ interviews, production and post show party photos.
But I'm sure the local papers will have their take on this before I will. Check with http://www.courierpostonline.com and http://www.philly.com in a day or so.

"How can one determine what is 'definitely one of Frank Wildhorn's best scores'? and what is his worst?"
The same could be said of Jerry Herman.

Posted: 7/21/05 at 11:33amWas there last night with wife (long drive up and down the turnpike). Liked it - not as much as Pimpernel (our all-time favorite Wilhorn score), but definitely a lot better than Dracula (saw them both). Leads were both great, excellent performances by both Jarrod Emick and Lauren Kennedy. Songs were good, not so sure about the story itself. Costumes also great. I'm sure much more competent people will be posting, but we did enjoy it.

i'm interested in this musical, as i'm a big fan of the Tennessee Williams treatment of these two figures, which is called CLOTHES FOR THE SUMMER HOTEL. i've always thought it would make a great small chamber musical if his play served as the libretto.
There had been something else bugging me about this project, because i thought there was another new Fitzgerald musical out there, and i finally found it:
Lyricist Mills received the 2003 Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award from The ASCAP Foundation, and received a 2002 grant from the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation. Most recently, he wrote book, music, and lyrics for The Pursuit of Persephone, a new musical about the college years of F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Anyway, any further reports on the early public performances of Wildhorn/Murphy attempt are very much appreciated.
Also, those of you who saw the first performance last Sunday and return, i'd like to hear what changes occured. Thanks!

I like "I've Got Things To Say" very much. But, I also love "Everything and More," "Lessons to be Learned," and the two women duet in Act 2.
A smart, fun acting number is that song where Zelda says if Scott asks her out, she'll say no. That's a funny one.

what is the role and actress of the second woman ("two women duet in Act Two")?
i thought Lauren was the only featured female...just curious.

My friend and I were there last night too.
It started 15 minutes, and they announced that the 3rd
processor for lighting wasn't working and that they
had someone coming down from NYC to fix it, but they
were going ahead with the show anyway. Did not really notice
any lighting problems, but there were a missed mic cue or two.
Liked some of the songs. Was so-so about others. Really like "Something of My Life".

Posted: 7/21/05 at 11:34pmThank you! Who sings "Something of My Life?" That must be a new song because I don't recall it from the reading. Where does this song take place in the show?

I'm interested to hear about the choreography in WAITING FOR THE MOON.
imo, the chor. was wonderful,,, but the could hav scaled it back just a tad. Almost too much too many too often.
Who sings "Something of My Life?"
Zelda sings this as the closing # in the first Act.
Thanks Gregor. Frank & Jack & the Lenape people have all been over the top excited and great to deal with. My article is a bit more time consuming to put together, but I'll do my best to have it up shortly.
BTW, I was given 2 tickets for Sat. 7/30 to give away to BWW. I posted it here yesterday and they have been claimed. The person who pm'd me first got them. I will have a pair to give away for " The Music of Frank Wildhorn" in Sept. Stay tuned. Thanks
