This is more of a question for the moderators, but I was wondering if there is ever going to be a BroadwayWorld Video Preview for THE WEDDING SINGER
I love the videos so much, and I'd especially love to "relive" some WEDDING SINGER moments
Yeah, hope this doesn't sound weird asking this, or anything...
Thanks
:)
I know for sure they already showed a preview and some other TWS video on this site, also check Broadway.com

That's not a preview, that's the whole show! 0_o

Was that Stephen Lynch?

Why wouldn't it be?

It didn't look or sound like him.
Thank you for posting that link, Craig
Obviously, the mullet wig is Stephen Lynch's "glasses," a la Clark Kent and Superman.
Of course it's Stephen Lynch.

Instead of creating a whole new topic, and I know this is pretty off-topic for this thread, but I was watching a... thing *cough* and I was wondering if anyone knew why they changed Someday to Right on Time?
That video was from the out of town try out. Having heard the demos then seeing the show in NY they changed a lot.

I actually only heard Someday on the recording, but the video (we actually shouldn't be talking about this, ahahah) had Right on Time, and it's also listed on IBDB.

Yea, they replaced "Right on Time" with "Someday". Someday is actually a lot funnier when performed than Right on Time was. Although both songs are GREAT!
This is just me fanwanking, but this is what I gather from the Right on Time-being-replaced-by-Someday thing:
Right on Time was a song where she sang about her relatiosnhip with Glenn specifically, and where she revealed some doubt about whether or not they would ever end up being together, with lines like "Right on time, at least I think" and so on. The character of Julia as portrayed in the movie has a much more naive view of her relationship with Glenn. She doesn't see anything wrong with it, really, and she's got such a fairy tale, romanticized version of what marriage means, what her wedding will be like, etc. It's very much more in the vein of "Someday." I think that they changed it over to "Someday" in order to keep Julia's mindset clearly like that of the movie!Julia. Otherwise, with Right on Time, you see from the second song that she has doubts about Glenn, which makes her guilt over falling for Robbie that less impacting.
The reason Lynch looks different is because this video was done before Broadway and he now uses his own hair. Look at the Times Square billboard or other old posters too.
I was talking more about lyric changes. Its Your Wedding Day from the Demo and from the show are VERY different.

Oh ok! Thanks for clearing that up for me!
myManCape, I was answering Yero's original question about those two songs.
To answer your question, the lyrics changes have to do with the blocking changes. If I remember correctly, the demo version of the song starts off with Robbie singing about himself and the band getting ready for the wedding. The blocking obviously reflected that (as seen by the Seattle promo pictures from the show, which feature a shot of the three guys in a car, which coincide with the "on the way in my Chevrolet" lines from the second verse). In my opinion, its more exciting for the first number to have the majority of the ensemble on stage the whole time, to have all of the dancing and whatnot going on the whole show, which can't happen until they get to the wedding. In the demo version, they don't get to the wedding until close to the end of the song.
So yes...I apologize if I am rambling a bit, but that's my thinking as to why it was changed. To make the opening number a little more exciting, with the choreography going on the entire time and such.
The final version that they use now, is a lot better. Its more exciting and gets the audiance into the show faster.
