According to Broadway Understudies' Twitter feed Matt Hydzik is on as Tony for today's matinee. Curious to hear how he was, from anyone who was there.

I hope he did well. Having seen Matt Cavenaugh in the role I'd like to see Matt H play Tony as well.
Aren't these critic's shows?
Not one to be snarky a lot, but that may be for the better.
Wouldn't it be amazing it the critics love him and suddenly a "star is born"? We could use a story like that these days. Not enough of them going around.
Maybe Matt C knew critics would be there so he called in sick!
I saw him in DC. I don't love Cavenaugh, but I still preferred him to Hydzik. The "star is born" predictions aren't likely.
I'm not predicting anything. Just thinking that it would be something we need right now - good news. I know it's unlikely but wouldn't it be nice for something good to happen?

I saw him in DC as well. I thought he was fantastic, had a lovely voice and great chemistry with Josefina Scaglione. I never saw Cavenaugh.
well he went on for the Matinee only, correct? so its not as if Cavenaugh is totally gone today
Critics usually come earlier in the week. Someone on ATC said some critics were there on Saturday.
ALL the critics don't necessarily show up on the same day. They have several performances to choose from. Perhaps this was pre-arranged and not made available to the press.
Seeing this on Friday. Can't wait.
Saw him this afternoon. Definitely a very nice voice, but he was a bit one-note on the acting. Granted, I'm gonna say that about most of the people in the cast minus Anita and Action. Definitely dissapointed and let down by something that could have been so good.
And after watching a beautiful rendtion of the full dream-ballet, I feel cheated out of what I should have seen earlier today. However, while the show was very dissapointing as a whole, not even a slightly above-average production as this can destroy the brilliance that was created by Bernstein, Robbins, and Sondheim,a nd even Laurents. There are certain moments that are just so well crafted that nothing can possibly screw it up.
