WickedIsLife - I actually thought you guys were kind of cute, and Idina seemed to bask in it. I was just saying that alli2 shouldn't proclaim moral superiority over anyone, especially Idina herself.

"-I forgot how they make Nessa’s shoes appear ‘ruby’ and I thought it was really lame. Find some way to put ruby slippers on the girl! Shining a red light? Is this a HS production? LOL. “Wicked Witch of the East” was really good, they should’ve put it on the damn cast recording!"

I think they do it like that because in the books about Oz, the shoes are actually silver. So the red light on the silver shoes pays homage to both the original books, as well as the movie.

'After that, there was 10-15minutes of applause. I was like ‘Oh my God!’'

HAHA, this is getting better and better. First someone said five minutes, than six minutes, now 10-15 minutes!!! It was 2 1/2 minutes which is still a very long time...
But just thought I should get the facts straight. re: WICKED - IDINA'S FINAL NIGHT - POST YOUR REVIEWS HERE

"this is really nerve-wrecking. i never thought i would care so much....... i guess i fooled myself"

I know what you mean, these Idina posts have become addicting! Especially when people were responding so quickly so by the time i read a post or wrote one, there were new posts already!.

QM, (by the way it was great to finally meet you yesterday)

I timed it, for my own OCD amusement. Just a little over six minutes.

TheGaIsSilent (thank you re: WICKED - IDINA'S FINAL NIGHT - POST YOUR REVIEWS HERE), between Idina coming out and Joey finally being able to continue with 'I thought you'd never get here' were exactly 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I know it's pathetic to even know this but let's just say I was .... erm... I have the proof. re: WICKED - IDINA'S FINAL NIGHT - POST YOUR REVIEWS HERE
I don't know which 'period' you timed.

And you know you have lost all perspective if you discuss issues like this on a message board... and I mean MYSELF with that re: WICKED - IDINA'S FINAL NIGHT - POST YOUR REVIEWS HERE

wow, why don't you ask me what i mean before you jump up my ass? Okay, well since you already jumped I'll clarify.

I was refering to JLT saying 'I love Idina Menzel!' Not anything that Idina did. I know she has fractured ribs, thanks. I wasn't expecting her to be in costume, I wasn't expecting her to be onstage during the show. I just felt bad for the people who had never seen the show before.

Tell me please, how is a professional fan supposed to act? I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to get a better spot to take pictures from during bows. Screaming the same thing three times when they're obviously trying to continue the show? IMO, that's obnoxious.

Alright, continue jumping.

Wow, I'm kind of glad now I went last Sunday since I had bought for that date since that was originally scheduled to be Idina's last performance. I mean, I'm sure it was probably great to be there yesterday, but I'm glad I got to see her perform one last time. I got to be there for Christopher Fitzgerald's last performance. At one performance, he autographed my poster and genuinely seemed like a nice guy.

I can see JLT maybe appearing unprofessional, but it's expected things like that will happen on someone's final performance. I heard there were lots of improv on Kristin Chenowith's last performance too.

Aww thanks for the link to the pics, WickedIsLife. If my friends and I had been able to go I'd imagine we'd have done the same thing. re: WICKED - IDINA'S FINAL NIGHT - POST YOUR REVIEWS HERE I bet you had a blast.

A "professional" fan should know that it's not a concert , it's live theater. A Show in which NOT "everyone" has seen before. So when you and company yell out IDINA IDINA IDINA numerous times when they try to get on with a show , you may think it was sweet and while your intentions were good to heart ,it disturbs others around you to the point where they think "who the hell are these kids and why aren't they at ashlee simpsons lip singing concert?"

I'm not trying to come down on anyone or jump up "someones ass" but , it's one thing to give a well deserved ovation .. it's another to scream on a first name basis mid show.

Agreed, Amneris. To the girls' defense, it wasn't really midshow. After JLT screamed "I LOVE IDINA MENZEL", all bets were pretty much off, show-wise.

C'mon guys...u gotta admit that during the 10 mins during curtain call and the "2.5 minutes" when she first appeared on stage, that you did scream. Everybody did. You may be saying you didn't, but you did. Whether it was screaming "woooo" or "I LOVE YOU IDINA", it's all the same. JLT = JLT. She was really hyper and it was the last time she was going to be on the stage with Idina. And in response to TheGaIsSilent, you are right. When my friends screamed and everyone else did, it WASN'T just randomly when Shoshana said "Come with me to the Emerald City"...it was when all 1809 people in the Gershwin were. You could tell Idina appreciated every last word people said but she could not respond. Because it's encouraging more people to do it.

It wasn't even the unprofessionalism, I shouldn't have said that. It was just like, okay the 5 minutes of screaming was over, WHY must you start it again JLT?? I know there were people in the audience who were like 'um, can we continue and end?'

so i was there yesterday it was amazing
the fact that she came out in a track suit i find nothing wrong with that. im grateful she even came out. i think being that she's injured she shouldn't try and put the costume on and get all green. she was fine the way she was. i don't think anyone cared that she was dressed down..i mean she has a fractured rib she should be comfortable.
Popular was priceless.
I beg to differ on the "shoshana didn't get enough credit". I felt the audience was overly excited for her and she got a lot of appreiciation..
at her fansite she posted how happy she was..
www.shoshanabeanonline.com
i also saw the kiss on the cheek from idina. i thought that was very nice.
Shoshana is great and i look forward to seeing her again

I was also at the show Sunday. There were some cute comments that I don't think were mentioned. I was very close to the stage, and during the applause Joey finally said to her (after several minutes) laughingly "tell the to shhhhh." She looked at him smiling and shook her head no. It was so sweet.

Next, Joe recounted the accident from Saturday and commented to the aucience that it turns out afterll that Idina cannot defy gravity. She chimed in with, "no I cannot defy gravity. Elphaba melted, then I melted."

She started looking nervous when none of the cast was around her and turned to JLT and asked her to stand with her. She agreed and took Idina's hand and they stood together.

There was lots of comments that weren't heard by everyone because they didn't have her mic up all the time. I'm trying to remember all of them. They were all so cute.

Did Idina actually come out the stagedoor? Did she sign? If so, I am extremely impressed.

Thanks for all the cute moments. I appreciate it. She seems sweet I guess, I have never met her.

wicked, the musical and the book, aren't allowed to use "ruby slippers" by law. they are still copyrighted. so, jeweled shoes is close enough, and everyone knows what is being referred to.

yeah i was at the show, and found out a couple hours before that she had cracked her rib (i was in NJ with my friend at her grandparents house and didn't check online on saturday so i didn't know until sunday) and we were both disappointed, but i have to admit i was very impressed with shoshana. no good deed blew me away. she definitely has a different take on elphaba, and although i was disappointed i didn't see idina, i thought shoshana was awesome. me and my friend were in rear mezz and couldn't hear some of those lines that those of u closer could hear, so please post them if u remember!!

FrontRow,

Actually, Joe Mantello was the one who made the "she can't defy gravity" comment, not Idina herself.

not to mention, the slippers aren't ruby, they are silver. Ruby red was used because it looked better...

that's why they glow red at the end...

Please disregard the message I posted about Idina gasping, I found a video clip of her singing as long as your mine on this website and she was not sounding to good. I thought it would be cool to hear other comments. I guess that's the way it goes...

Nice to hear that Joe Montello was nice to her, considering he was such a dick to her in rehearsals (He almost fired her, and he would also cause her to have crying fits)

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

i definitley don't think JLT was unprofessional...she knew what the audience sitting in the theater wanted, and she gave it to us. there was incredibly thunderous applause after she said it. the whole last scene was screwed up and although it probably sucked for people who didn't have any idea what was going on, it was priceless for those of us that did.
