I was there... i wrote a 9 page journal entry about such an amazing night. I didn't get a chance to read every post but i'm sure you all heard... Idina came out after Fiyero knocks on the trap door... she walked out on stage (aka where she left off) in a red jump suit and with tears in her eyes she finished the show.
fav quote: "Fellow Ozians, I LOVE IDINA MENZEL!!!!!" -jlt 1/9/05
Camera's were going off like crazy, even though they aren't allowed, Jan 9th and July 18th were exceptions to letting people take pictures... it was one of the most incredible nights everrrrr. Hope everyone that was there enjoyed it as much as i did! Hugs Kisses and DEFY GRAVITY
"Jan 9th and July 18th were exceptions to letting people take pictures"
WRONG!
It is ILLEGAL to take pictures inside the Gershwin Theater. That said it is easy for ushers to take away one camera...but it is hard for them to take away 1,809 cameras.
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail

Scarlet Pimpernel
Paulie, According to an original cast member, (Melissa), Idina was not grasping the character of Elphaba. Joe would get extremely frustrated with her and start yelling at her. She would leave the rehearsels crying. Joe got so frustrated that he was about to replace her. Greatfully, Idina finally understood Elphaba, and therefore, she won the Tony.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive.
"Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot."
"No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one."
Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.
Guys, I think that everyone should see the thing that made me laugh harder than I probably ever will in my entire life. If the author of this clip visits this site, I apologize, but this had me in HYSTERICS. Enjoy. I know that you will. Tribute to Idina Menzel
"Goodness is rewarded. Hope is guaranteed. Laughter builds strong bones. Right will intercede. Things you've said I often find I need, indeed. I see the world through your eyes. What's black and white is colorized. The knowledge you most dearly prized I'm eager to employ. You said that life has infinite joys."
whoever did that is a truly dedicated fan. its cute, took a lot of time, and was created with true heart. sure i think some of the fans are a tad overzealous, but oh well, so let them be! i'd rather have overloving people than negative ones. :)
Justice are u speaking the truth? I never heard that before..that's sad. I always thought her take on Elphie was right on, compared to the book.
A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it,
but all she really dreams is to make someone
else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer.
And that is so beautiful-Anonymous
that was so great im tearing up and it gave me goosebumps awesome video
"But I relish every brillant inspired moment. This is who I'm determined to be- an actor/singer/dancer-no, I take that back, this is who I am. These people are my tribe, my destiny. I know it.
-How I Paid for College; A story of sex, theft, friendship and musical theater.
Too much work tonite to post the review but its comin! With pics too!
Just want to say as a whole, the show can be summed up in four words.
Shoshana's NO GOOD DEED
I mean, it was PHENOMENAL! I wish her Wizard and I was nearly that good. No Good Deed literally left me screaming and clapping. I wouldve stood up but I didnt wanna look like a complete idiot. No Good Deed is worth the price of admission.
I know she is just an actress and it's just a musical, but the video really made me sad to see her go...
So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld
hehe....my favorite part was when the pictures were changing in time to the music...definitely heavy on the cheese, but sweet attempt
i still giggled:)
"Hey Joey McIntyre, is there a balcony in Madison Square Garden? Joey knows his venues a little better than me. That's okay...I have a bigger part on broadway...:)" -Idina Menzel
As much as I lve Idina and im sad to see her go (yes I wore green and black to school on monday)I must say that that video is quite possible the cheesyest thing I have ever seen. It was like and obituary. lol. very sweet though
