WICKED London Cast Recording???

Even though Idina is playing Elphaba will there be another Cast Recording of this show?

Since Menzel's replacement has already been named, I would think they might consider recording the show with her. But as has been pointed out in many other threads on this topic - from a financial standpoint, for the creative team, there isn't a real compelling reason to make a second recording.

So what? Yes, it is the leading role but all the other roles are played by actors who didn't appear on the Broadway production or the OBC recording.

I personally don't mind if they make the OLC recording with Idina. I'm sure they will find some new things to put on the cd - like they did on CHICAGO's and THE KING AND I revival's recordings.

And to some extent, having Idina's name on the cd cover after all the success she's had with the show, I'm sure it doesn't do any harm on the cd sales... I dare say (but I may be wrong!) that having her name has a bigger effect than having her replacement's name on it.

But, I'm sure more than anything it's more a question of what the cd includes and how much of the music is being included as 'the stage version' instead of altering it for cd purposes than a question of who's singing.

it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't record a london album.

if they do tho, i think they'll have kerry ellis as elphaba. idina is already featured on a "wicked" recording. would be more "original" if they had a complete brand new cast.

I think they might do a cast recording with Kerry as that'd seem more logical. They would have to call it the London cast instead of original london as Idina will technically be the original one.

I think Avenue Q will probertly do one aswell as they will most likely change alot of the songs.

I absolutely love Idina, i am her biggest fan and think she is amazing on the OBC CD of Wicked. However, it seems that each actress that has played Elphaba, seems to interpret the songs in their own way. Therefore, for this reason i think it would be nice to hear Kerry Ellis' take on some of the amazing songs on the album, particularly on Defying Gravity!

I hope a London recording with Kerry Ellis is released - her "No Good Deed" was amazing! (Yes, AND "Defying Gravity". Of course.) I also liked the song about the Wicked Witch of the East.

^ Yes I agree, I really questioned myself thinking I was crazy but I preferred Kerry to Idina when I last saw it.
