Ok. All this hype about Brooklyn. I saw the play and fell absolutly in love with it. The music is outstanding and unlike anything we have heard on broadway. The cast is amazing and very tight with eachother. I personally think the show will be on broadway for a very long time. What do you guys think??
There are several thoughts as well as reviews on this show already posted to the board. I know you're new to the board because I see you have "Swing" status. Do a search and you'll be able to read them and many of your questions should be answered. As far as if the show will succeed...time will tell.

From what I've been hearing it sounds like the critics will hate it, but it'll develop a solid following among the under-25 set and American Idol fans. It'll do fine -- maybe a season or two.

Disclaimer: I have not seen the show.
Just going by pre opening buzz, it looks like this years "Taboo" with some adamantly loyal, vocal fans but a collective yawn by the Broadway community as a whole.

Its onLy previews also, they willwork out all the kinks, they will have to if they want to do well. And i dont think the creators will not listen to the reviewers.

I heard that tickets are selling better then any other preview to date.
We'll have to wait for Playbill's gross report

Then they have good marketing people.
Honestly, I think it'll get a lot of twelve-year olds but not be loved by the critics.
I don't know about the critics..
But i think about mixed to positive
But their fans (including me) will keep them goin'

Wicked at first was not loved by the critics. For a play to succeed, viewers just need to keep seeing it. Critics only have a little say.

i think the marketing has sucked. the audience seems to be woman 65 and older.......not kidding
when they started out in denver, the first few days they had no one...then by word of mouth it extended about 6 times... they had scalpers.
"Critics only have a little say"
HA
HA
HAHAHAHAHHA
Do you know how many shows the critics CLOSED?
LOL because little jewish old ladies probably think it's a show about BROOKLYN...
tiny-toon lol i just read this quote from the bottom of your thingie lol
"IF YOU DONT GO TO A SHOW BECAUSE OF A SHILL YOU ARE A LOSER"
Overall, especially with a small cast, it was a fairly low cost production which makes a successful run more likely.
I'm sure it will recoup its investments.

I was only trying to be helpful BroadwayBoy3, there's no need to get on the defensive. since you are new to the board i was under the impression you hadn't read them.
i'm beginning to wonder if it's even worth being nice. I'm steering clear of all this BROOKLYN Bullsh!t.

This show is already HUGE Tiny, critics have not even said anything yet. People just wont stop going cuz the critics say something bad. It already has a good reputation. Look at the pie chart thingy on top of Broadwayworld.com. Brooklyn has already doubled the 2nd competitor in the most anticipated musical.
Thats because of something called "SPAM"

And yet they were at the TKTS booth on Thursday and Friday? Name who you "heard" that from.
