Posted: 11/24/06 at 6:54pmI wouldn't be a bit surprised. I'm waiting for them to announce it any day now. I'm not a fan of the show, but it IS Les Miz, people who know practically nothing about musicals know what Les Miz is. I don't think it will run NEARLY as long as the original did, but I can definitely see it sticking around for a year or two at least.
#4re: WILL LES MIZ EXTEND??????
Posted: 11/24/06 at 6:57pmI hope to God it doesn't. I wouldn't think it likely as it isn't doing brilliant business, good yes but not enough to warrant an extension.

Wow, good to know there are still raging assholes on the board!
Couldn't someone just answer his simple question without taking out their anger on someone they've never even seen?

I hope so!
Attendance has been pretty good, 90s and 80s. That's not enough for a show to extend?

i don't think it should. it just closed and this revial is basically pointless. I mean i saw it in 2000 and liked it but their is no reason for it to come back.

Posted: 11/24/06 at 8:17pmAs much as I adore the show -- all aspects of it, mind you -- I feel (wholeheartedly and sincerely) that it should not not be extended beyond April 22nd (it's determined Closing Date). To the poser above me, "How could you consider this a pointless revival?!?" The reasoning behind the return to B'way (for a limited engagement) is to celebrate 21 years of musical dominance. Across the pond in 1985, LesMiz was born...2 years later, America grew accustomed to the life story of Jean Valjean, the ruthless Inspector Javert, and all the rest! For the next 16 years, it's enlightened lives, evoked raw emotions, spread laughter, tears, jeers, and cheers throughout! It's a celebration of Schonberg and Boublil's masterful orchestrations, and above all else, a celebration of life as seen through the musicalization of Victor Hugo's monumental epic. If you can't appreciate it like the rest of us...I feel sorry for you.

Posted: 11/24/06 at 8:27pmI don't think the revival is doing the type of business to warrant an extension: it should do well over the holidays, but I think it will be slumping come February.

Posted: 11/24/06 at 8:40pmShould we start the "No, there will not be a recording." thread now?
#13re: WILL LES MIZ EXTEND??????
Posted: 11/24/06 at 8:47pmLimelightmike, these aren't the original orchestrations anyway. Maybe score/book/lyrics would be more appropriate.

Posted: 11/24/06 at 11:08pmThe melodies are more redundant and monotonous than the worst of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and I find it incredibly difficult to tell one song apart from another. Plus, I automatically substitute the "Forbidden Broadway" lyrics in my mind when I hear the songs.

Benett, you make a good point that it will slow down in ticket sales come Feb. But, most shows on Broadway stumbel in ticket sales during that month. That is the slowest month for ticket sales on Broadway. Right now, during the holiday rush it is selling out. In fact, the first time I saw it it was the saturday after opening. I bought my ticket that thursday and when I got there that saturday afternoon to pick it up there was a sign that said sold out right outside the theatre.
I don't understand how people were talking bout how long this would last and the state of ticket sales when it was just in previews. Many if not all shows do better in ticket sales after they open as oppose to when they are in previews.

I agree. People ask a simple question and get a rude answer.

Posted: 11/24/06 at 11:16pmMaybe if it was selling 100% cappacity and was the "hot" ticket on B'way, but alas, it isn't.

Posted: 11/24/06 at 11:26pmRentboy, True but Look at another long running show also produced by mcintosh. Phantom of the Opera is not at all the hottest ticket it once was and is no where near from selling out. But, yet it is still playing. I am sure that if they can have the money to keep that playing then they can easilly keep Les Miserables on Broadway. After all, it is cheapter to keep a show on Broadway then it is to tour with it.

In regards to being an asshole-
Coolkid, coooookid, coooolkid1776, coolkid1776, and his many, many screennames, have asked the exact same questions, in multiple threads.
Every single day, he starts at least a few more asking about rush, standing room, tkts, lottos, etc. Then he asks about seats for the shows. Then he wants to know which seat, row K or row L, is better.
It never stops. Just do a search and you'll see what I mean.

Here- I searched, in the past few months, these are just the topics that came up that coolkid11776 STARTED about les miz rush/SRO/lotto/cheap seats. And no, the doubles are not typos. That means he started more than one thread.
If you want to see more stupidity and repetitiveness with him asking about shows, knock yourself out.
