<< The show has made a Darren Ritchie fan out of me. Why did he pretend to shoot a basket during the curtain call? We know you're straight. I also enjoyed the Hot White Knights, and Kate Shindle is pretty fierce. Carly is going to be the next Lea Michele. She has quite a voice.

Maybe he's a Knick fan...? Thats first thing that came to my mind.

Posted: 4/18/11 at 1:16pmIt's not about Frank's shows being successful all over the world. Theme park shows are successful all over the world. The places in the world where Wildhorn's prior failed Broadway shows are successful are not generally in English speaking countries and those countries don't have a history or frame of reference for musicals. Their standard for judging is different. (Here in the US some of his show have done well in amateur rights.) Broadway is the pinnacle where nothing but the highest level is expected. If you're going to create a simple no holds barred entertainment and do it with wit, quality writing and style, the critics will embrace it as they did with "The Producers". Broadway is a place that aspires to the highest quality. Give the critics material that might have some entertainment value but is ultimately flawed and you get pans. When you figure all the cost for a family of 4 going for a night or afternoon to a family show, you have to give them a significantly higher level than they get at a Disneyworld show where for about the same amount of money they get a show and a day at the park too.

Wildhorn lovers.. there is hope.
Bonnie and Clyde the new Wildhorn musical
allegedly coming in August will
wow critics and audiences alike and change
his luck.
Can't wait for Bonnie and Clyde.
Hope the poor reviews for this don't kill the Bonnie And Clyde
production.

Posted: 4/20/11 at 12:12amI never listen to critics. In my opinion, most theater critics are a bunch of snobs stuck in the R&H era of musicals and generally overlook the positive aspects of a show and only focus on the negatives which I get, its their job...but IMO, critics in general dont know what their talking about. Am I the only one who thinks this way? I especially feel this for this show. I'm seeing it this summer so I'll know if their right or wrong then I guess.

Posted: 4/20/11 at 11:05amA review is, at the end of the day, an opinion. More educated, to be sure, but still an opinion. If I'm unsure about a show, I read multiple reviews.and I try to go to tkts for seats. I'm willing to overlook a bit when a show makes me feel good. :)

Exactly--- and to hear people say "skip it", or "save your money" makes me laugh-
Just look at the recent Tony winners... "Memphis", "BE", "ITH", --- you can go back to "LK"-
I know many people that have hated on or more of these shows- Its all subjective. Just differing tastes.

"Carly is going to be the next Lea Michele."
No she won't. She'll be even better.
