Home being Alice/Chloe is definitely new, it was still Alice only on Saturday night. So if Chloe is now there for Home how did that set up going into A Nice Little Walk- is that still after Home, does that song still start back in the apartment? >>
Thanks, Ana !!! Thought I was going nuts,..... my seat happened to be right near the right door, so when I saw "Chloe" come out and start singing, I did a bit of a double-take, and then checked the Playbill-
Yep.... "A Nice Little Walk" was right after "Home", and the transition was smooth---- I just loved the fact that Chloe and Alice sang "Home" together !!

Thanks a lot guys! I was wondering because I'll be in nyc tonight 2 see sister act & coming home on Wednesday and wanted 2 catch a matinee before I left to go home, which is a 2 hr bus ride, and I was considering seeing this show so i was just wondering if i would be out in time to catch the 4:30 bus home because i have a rehearsal i have 2 get to, when i get home.
Also one more question: How does the concept album compare to the music in the show now? I was thinking about buying the concept album on itunes, or should I wait for the official broadway album.

How does the concept album compare to the music in the show now?
It...doesn't? ha.
I volunteer philly03, who is the expert at breaking this down, to answer this question :) but off the top of my head: 5 songs on the concept cd do not exist in the show at all anymore, one exists in pretty much name only (Snelson's The Mad Hatter vs Shindle's The Mad Hatter; two different songs), and the songs that are still in the show pretty much all have different lyrics, music, one is sung by a different character entirely than who now sings it, etc.
I like it for the cut songs/'old' versions of songs, (Love Begins, sigh), and if that interests you then yes get it, but I wouldn't really say listen to it to familiarize yourself with the show before seeing it or anything.

Ha thank you Anakela.. you've been along for the journey as well.
Regarding the Concept Album:
The album certainly stands independently from the show itself, which is a great testament to the music. The album's orchestrations are by Jeremy Roberts, who also co-produced the album with Frank Wildhorn. Unfortunately Jeremy didn't do the orchestrations for the show, so the overall sound is immediately different!
The music that was cut from the show are some of the best songs: "Don't Wanna Fall in Love" is a great fun pop number, which while it did nothing for the show has always been a fan favourite. "Love Begins" is missed terribly (and may be on the OBCR as a bonus) which I would credit as my Top 5 Jack Murphy Lyrics.
Other songs cut include "Misunderstood," which seems to be another fan favourite featuring the cut role of the Jabberwock (Tad Wilson).
"Worst Day of My Life" is seen in it's original and far superior version. The version of the song on Broadway takes the upbeat, rock anthem to a slow-tempo, boring duet. I would buy the album for this alone (& the other two songs).
It's worth the money, I've told several people to buy that album rather than wait for the OBCR, unless you're a Shindle fan. You can tell the excitement of the cast when they began recording (which was before rehearsals in Tampa). Also included is the never-been-in-the-show "Keep Dancin'" for Jose Llana, and as a bonus, the original demo of "Go With The Flow" (which sounds incredibly better on stage).

I haven't seen the show, but I tried to watch the Ustream backstage event BWW put together. I had to turn it off after 5 minutes. It was horrible.
I am sorry, but I think it would be nice to see at least one or two of the LEAD actors at the beginning telling about the show and get people INTERESTED. The swings or whatever annoyed the hell outta me.
I think if BWW was going to do an event like that, they should have a lead or producer involved from the start. These people, from what I saw, acted like they were giddy teenagers and it turned me OFF.
When Janet shows up she puts a bag in front of the camera. She also hid at the beginning of the other Ustream chat which I attended.
Does she not know it would be a good idea to talk to the fans and help promote the show? Both times she annoyed me. Not a good idea for a leading lady to get shy.

I didn't watch the ustream, but did watch the one last time with Frank Wildhorn in it... but I actually agree:
Janet doesn't seem too enthusiast about the show, and never really has. Most interviews she talks about how great In the Heights was for her, and usually refers to this character as "Alicia," not Alice. It's all very bizarre... None of the "leads" seem too into it anymore besides Jose Llana. You'd think the PR team, especially since there's not one name in the cast, would try to get them be over-the-top enthusiastic!
On a side note I love the long-term cast members trying to describe the plot... It's such an awkward interview question I'm sure because it's changed so much. I don't even know how to describe the whole thing!

Re: Song from the Concept Recording that are no longer in the show:
Don't forget the Mad Hatter's second act number, "Nick of Time". Add that to "Love Begins", "Don't Wanna Fall In Love", "Misunderstood", and the never-been-in-a-staged-version-of-the-show "Keep On Dancin'" and "I Give You the Queen of Hearts".
And, of course, every other number has changed lyrics - with the exception of "One Knight", which has barely changed at all (except for the orchestration).
If you listen to the pre-concept recording demos (there are quite a few, including some other interesting cut songs - and cut actors!), you'll hear an entirely different show from the Concept Recording and everything thereafter.
This just goes to show that musicals aren't written, they're re-written. I can't wait to see the frozen version of the show in a few weeks.

You do know that that was their second backstage live stream, and they did have Wildhorn at the first one, talking about the writing of Wonderland and cut songs (Love Begins!) and other changes and stuff? And if you'd stuck around Janet and Darren were there before the end of this one.
I enjoy the backstage livestreams- I look at them like, for example, the video blog that Nick Adams does on broadway.com; a little behind the scenes glimpse, for those who are already into the show, and have seen the professional interviews and PR pieces and stuff, and who will get a kick out of things like hearing people's audition stories, or seeing the delirium of what it looks like the previews period is like. (Although in all honesty watching how vocal rest Kate Shindle and her clipboard of fun communicates might have been my favorite part.)
Most interviews she talks about how great In the Heights was for her, and usually refers to this character as "Alicia," not Alice.
"Alicia" in things other than the Spanish language press for the show? I know I've seen "una nueva Alicia," etc. in stories in Spanish about the show, but other than an interview once where she mentioned that her mom refers to her Alice as "Alicia" I haven't noticed Dacal usually using "Alicia" in interviews.

Just a lil bump to offset some on the negativity posted in the other thread... :))
Never did I think I would see the day with (2) very positive "Wonderland" threads on "ATC", vs (2) negtive threads on BWW !!!

Posted: 4/10/11 at 9:20amI don't see any reason why this show can't have a thread for people to post their positive thoughts. Lots of shows have "love" threads (Starshines Unite, Spelling Bee Love etc.) This one just doesn't have a catchy title. I haven't seen it, so can't say anything about the show or its merits. If it was a thread asking for reviews it'd be different.

Agree, Gator--- This show just seems to have that "pile on the hatred" thing going for it, yet the times that I have seen it, the overall audience reaction has been very positive.
Like they say, "to each, their own", and many of us seem to love it.

Posted: 4/10/11 at 2:37pmI really like the song "One Knight" that Darren Ritchie sings. I don't know much about this show though and am interested in seeing the reviews for it after Opening Night on April 17th!

I am one of those people that never ever listen to critics to decide what to see ...I make up my own mind because I like so many different things.
That being said I have to see this show because Joey Calveri is in it and I just absolutely love him !!!!! I know he isn't a main character but I will take him anyway I can get him when it comes to listening to him sing and watching him perform!! I just watched the sneak peek thats on here and it didn't look that bad at all! Now I just have to find a way to get my butt to the city to see it!!!

Well Wonderland Lovers...What do you think of the reviews?
Do you love them?
WONDERLAND: The Lovers Only Thread!#46
Posted: 4/18/11 at 3:15amHonestly, yes! I love them. They're very amusing and I wasn't expecting raves. I'm perfectly capable of loving a show in spite of its flaws and I don't mind admitting that this show has many. But that doesn't make me enjoy it any less and I'm not going to suddenly turn around and hate it just because the critics didn't enjoy it.

Frank reminds me of Pavlov's dog if you know what I mean
His shows succeed all over the world but the NY critics hate him. I guess they are all wrong but we NY critics know better. It will never change & he will never ever get a good review no matter what he does.

Posted: 4/18/11 at 7:09amThe show has made a Darren Ritchie fan out of me. Why did he pretend to shoot a basket during the curtain call? We know you're straight. I also enjoyed the Hot White Knights, and Kate Shindle is pretty fierce. Carly is going to be the next Lea Michele. She has quite a voice.
