But WHY is Emma Zaks in the top 15? She was in La Cage.

Unbelievable. Wish someone would nail MTV on that one.
Emma? The one who said her parents met in Grease?
I like how one said that "So Much Better" was one of the greatest power ballads ever on Broadway.

Would it be possible to keep this all to one thread?
Yes Emmas dad is Jerry who won 4 TONYS..
who's her dad?
jerry zaks.
o thanks
Plus one of the judges was also in La Cage...
Also wasnt the girl celina, in tarzan and peformed the role of jane.
If I hear about Haylie Duff's tenure in Hairspray again, I might shoot myself.
why dont they give the role of Elle to her,her sister and Lindsay Lohan to alternate then Lindsay and Hillary can change the lyrics each time they go on "I am so much better than that whore".. :)
yeah and i saw tracy mcdowel there in the top 50 or whatever it was.
Yes it's Celina Carvajal.
loved both celina and emma hope they both make it into the top 3.
I like Celina from 42nd St but not sure if I like her as Elle. I want Emma Zaks to do well, and Cassie Silve as well
Several of the Elle finalists have had significant professional experience.
Emma Zaks played Paulette and understudied Anne in the revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, which was choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
Celina Caravajal most recently served as the second cover for Jenn Gambatese in TARZAN. She also understudied Kelli O'Hara in DRACULA, and has additionally appeared on Broadway as a replacement Annie in the 42ND STREET revival and as Demeter in CATS.
Autumn Hurlbert (who made it far in the audition process to replace Annaleigh Ashford as Margot last year) appeared on the First National Tour of LITTLE WOMEN as Beth March.
In addition to those few, several professional theater actresses were cut in the opening dance combination, including Tracy McDowell (a former Maureen on the RENT tour and swing in the Broadway company who also auditioned for Margot last year) and Amanda Flynn (who understudied Glinda in the original Los Angeles company of WICKED.)

Where'd you get all that info from, wicked?
I knew that Autumn girl seemed familiar!! She could be a great Margot
Poor Autumn Hurlbert!
I loved her as Beth...
jakethesnake, some of it I know by simply recognizing some of these faces from the boards over the years. Others came from mutual friends who knew these people would be on the show.
I don't so much have a problem with Broadawy performers being amongst the contestants (it would sure help the potential winner get through the role eight times a week) as I do MTV specifically portraying the contestants as never having been on the Great White Way before, especially when someone like Emma Zaks has worked with Mitchell before.
As you can see, a select number of the bunch are hardly "amateurs."
even with the experiance, it's hard to believe that these 10 are the BEST out of everyone who auditioned. ANd I'm mad that rachel got cut, I liked her. Maybe she wasn't ditzy enough for reality tv?
Haylie Duff is not a professional broadway star. She had a small role that any of us can probably do.
You mean this is a rigged corporate ploy to get brain-dead tools with no taste to boost MTV's ratings and renew interest in a show that should have closed months ago????
Pardon me while I stamp my feet and pout.
Also a favorite moment is when they said that So Much Better is the "hardest" song on Broadway.
Huh?
