Hello....my daughter is 10 and is playing the role of Small Allison in Fun Home in the next few weeks at a local theater. She completely understands the entire show and has no issues with any content in it. We also just took her to see Rent, the was in Reading, PA this week. Is Waitress that bad that she would have an issue with it? I think she is very mature for her age. She listens to the sound track all the time and is begging to go see it on Broadway. Thoughts?? Is she still to young to see it?
She should be fine - there is nothing she wouldn't see on tv any day of the week, and it's far tamer than Rent and way less traumatic than Fun Home...sounds like she's a true musical theater lover!
I'm hearing that Katherine McPhee, the new lead in Waitress, is especially good, by the way!

Nothing against Katharine but she's only been in for three shows so far. Every actress who has played Jenna has been especially good in her own way. Yes I'm sure your daughter will be fine here regardless of who is playing the lead. The role itself is very rich and the audiences tend to fall in love with whoever they see.
And yes the music is lovely. I think you'll both love it.
