I would have GLADLY walked out of BRKLN 15 minutes into the show had I not been in the center seat of the only full aisle of the theatre. God awful!

Yeah, yeah, we've heard how Act III really makes it all worth the journey. Our loss.

That's exactly why I never walk out, even at intermission. Many times, the second act is much better or makes the first act worth it. Also, if I've only seen half of the show, arguably the worse half, how can I intelligently comment on it later on?

Finally, if I purchased a ticket, I'm going to stay for the whole show and get the full value out of my money. If I didn't purchase my ticket, it's because a friend offered me a comp, in which case it would be incredibly rude and disrespectful to my friend if I left.

I think alot of the feelings for disappointment to the extent of wanting walk out depends on the mood that the individual is in prior to walking into the show. I know that I really disliked "By Jeeves"---I thought about leaving at intermission, but didn't--mostly because the patrons behind me were more entertaining. It was not a good show, but, afterward I realized that part of my disappointment was because I saw it very shortly after 9/11 and the general mood (including mine) was not good. I cannot see myself ever actually walking out of a show----I think the actors deserve the courtesy of the same house that was present at the beginning of Act 1. (just my opinion)

WOW. Sorry about that, guys. I kept getting an error message, so I thought it didn't post.

I've never walked out of a show while actors were on stage, but have left plenty of shows at intermission. If I dislike something enough to consider leaving, I find it rare that the last act will completely change my mind.

The only show I seriously considered leaving during the performance was The Black Rider at the Ahmanson in Los Angeles. That was just beyond painful to sit through. I would say that a good 30% of the audience for that show left before the break -- and it was pretty sparsely attended to begin with because the word of mouth was so bad. A friend who remained for the entire show said the theater was nearly empty for the second half.

I've never walked out of a show early before but the closest I have come was during Mrs. Warrens Profession. I should have left during the intermission like most of the people around me but I held out for the 2nd act which was a huge mistake.

Off the top of my head - shows that I have left at intermission

The Scarlet Pimpernel
QED - a science lecture and god Im a huge fan of Alan Alda
Titanic
Parade - Lincoln Center
In The Wake - Kirk Douglas Theater - great interesting well written and acted show but the first act just went on and on and on on....

I will say that often times when I've debated walking out and then ended up staying, I've always felt rewarded....but not above leaving at intermission if I'm not into a play

I've only left at Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake and a god awful college production of Guys and Dolls.

I have left two shows, both at intermission. One was a community theatre production of "Singing in the Rain" and the other was a college production of "Kindertransport."

I have never walked out of a show before. I wanted to when I saw Mandy Gonzalez twice in Wicked. Glad I stuck around since she was much better in Act 2.

SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE...i know i know kill me now, nail me to the cross, take away my GAY CARD...dont even tell stephen his biggest fan hated that show!...lol...i saw it with, i cannot even remember who played the leads, but it was months after BERNADETTE AND MANDY left the show...by the time the cast was singing the final song i was on my way out the door of the theatre...AND I NEVER HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE..EVER!...i always stay to stand and applaud the efforts of the people on stage...i had listened to the broadway show cast album before seeing the show and sort of knew i did not like the score...and seeing the show in person intensified my reaction...and this from a man that LOVES SONDHEIM...now as years have passed since i saw the show on Broadway, i can finally appreciate the score, and i actually remember being moved by the closing number of the first act...oh well...

The only time I walked out of a show was The Marvelous Wonderettes. Act I was punishment enough for agreeing to see it with a friend. I left at intermission, and I could not have gotten out of there any sooner.

I have yet to walk out of a show, though I desperately wanted to leave during the tour of Dr. Doolittle. It was easily the most boring and just generally awful show I've ever seen, and it did not improve in Act II.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Clapyohands- Well the show was part of my season subscription and there's always a couple duds in the season, but I still went into with an open mind. I was just beyond bored. I am not a ballet fan, so you can imagine what that was like. I saw the US touring production (it was actually the first city and first show for the tour), and I just did not care for it. It wasn't the production, I'm just not a ballet fan.

I couldn't stand another second in American Idiot- seriously those flashing lights were about to give me seizures and I left La Cage this past February during intermission because the show was lifeless and dreadfully boring. Sometimes you just have to do what's best for you and not care if it's "polite."
